While it is rare, it is possible that the Yale YRD256 Lock may malfunction and become completely unresponsive. Because this specific model of lock is completely keyless, opening the door requires a bit more work.

Drilling out the Lock:
To drill out the Yale YRD256 Lock, you’ll need the Metal Drill Out Template and the 1” hole saw that was included in your Maintenance Success Kit. Once you have the Drill Out Template and 1” hole saw, follow these steps:
Use tape to adhere the Drill Out Template over the YRD256’s keypad (if possible, use double sided tape on the inside of the Template to adhere it directly to the lock instead of taping to the door)
If you do not have the Drill Out Template, wake up the keypad and center the 1” hole saw between the number five and number eight
Using a 1” hole saw, drill into the center of the Drill Out Template until you cut through the metal plate at the back of the keypad, about 1” deep (do NOT drill completely through the lock)
Use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to grab the spindle and turn it to unlock the door
Remove the lock entirely and replace it with a new one
