Spring Window Fashion’s roller shade communicates with SmartRent’s internet-connected hub, allowing you to monitor and remotely control the shade via SmartRent Manager Web or SmartRent Manager Mobile. If a Spring Window Fashions Roller Shade is installed in a resident’s home, they will be able to monitor and control the shade within their home using SmartRent App and the Resident Web Portal once they are moved-in. Once a home is occupied, you will no longer have the ability to monitor or control the device.
Including the Roller Shade:
Before the roller shade can be used, you will first need to include it into the home’s Z-Wave network.
To include the roller shade, follow these steps:
Install the shades (refer to the owner’s manual for mounting instructions)
Set the upper and lower limits of the shades (refer to the owner’s manual)
Reset the radio in the shade:
Press and hold the program button on the headrail/motor
Release the button when the shade jogs once (the LED will turn solid amber and then turn off)
Reset the radio in the remote:
Press and hold the programming button until the LED stops flashing (about 15 seconds)
Include the shade into the Z-Wave network:
Put the hub into inclusion mode (refer to our SmartRent Manager Web or Alloy Install articles for additional instructions)
While the hub is in inclusion mode, press and hold the program button on the shade headrail/motor until the LED flashes green (about three seconds)
The LED will turn solid green and the shade will jog once when successful
If the device is not discovered, try excluding the device first (see steps below), then return to Step 5
Include the remote control into the Z-Wave network:
Put the hub into inclusion mode (refer to our SmartRent Manager Web or Alloy Install articles for additional instructions)
Press and hold the program button on the remote until the light flashes green (about three seconds)
The LED will flash green and turn off when successful
If the device is not discovered, try excluding the device first (see steps below), then return to Step 6
Associate a single channel remote with the shade (if applicable)
Set shade into inclusion mode by pressing and holding the pairing button for three seconds
Double-click the program button (pin hole on the back of the remote) using a paperclip
The remote will blink green and amber when successful
Configuring the Spring Window Fashions Roller Shade:
Once the shade is discovered, it will populate on the Hub page in SmartRent Manager. There are three additional steps to finalize the device installation process.
To configure the shade, follow these steps:
Configure the device
The device should configure automatically when it jogs after the inclusion, reporting its level
If it does not report its level, click Configure Device in SmartRent Manager, or Search for Attributes in Alloy Install
When configured successfully, the device’s state (Level xx%) will appear in the Device Attributes section (Alloy Install will simply proceed to the next step)
Name the device
Choose your desired name for the device
Click Save and Continue in SmartRent Manager, or Name Device in Alloy Install
Click Complete Installation
Excluding the Roller Shade:
An exclusion is a way to reset a Z-Wave device’s settings. If the Spring Window Fashions Roller Shade is not discovered during the inclusion process, it may need to be excluded. This may be necessary if the device was included in a Z-Wave network previously.
To exclude the roller shade, follow these steps:
Put the hub into exclusion mode (refer to our SmartRent Manager Web or Alloy Install articles for additional instructions)
While the hub is in exclusion mode, press and hold the program button on the shade headrail/motor until the LED flashes green (about three seconds)
The device should be excluded within a minute
