Step 1: Update the Filing Type on the Main Info Page

  • Open the tax return and navigate to the Main Info page.

  • Locate the checkbox for "Form 4868 with direct deposit" (previously selected for the extension).

  • Change this selection to "The income tax return" to indicate that you are filing the full return instead of an extension.

Step 2: Run Diagnostics and Resolve Errors

  • Click on Diagnostics to check for any outstanding errors.

  • If an error message appears, click on it to navigate directly to the issue.

  • In some cases, minor formatting errors (such as extra spaces in text fields) may cause validation issues. For example, an extra space after "TaxWise" can trigger an error.

  • Make the necessary corrections and re-run Diagnostics to confirm that the issue has been resolved.

Step 3: Create and Transmit the E-File

  • Once all errors are cleared, proceed to Create E-File.

  • Submit the return as an amendment following the standard e-file process.

  • After submission, check the status of the return.

    • If successful, the status will change to "Sent" instead of "Rejected."

Final Notes

✔️ Ensure all required fields are updated before submitting the amended return.
✔️ Use the Diagnostics tool to identify and fix any potential submission errors.
✔️ Once submitted, monitor the return’s status in the e-file system.

By following these steps, you can successfully convert an extension (Form 4868) to an amended return in TaxWise Online (TWO).
