Accessing the Checks Section

  1. From the main Taxslayer Pro screen, find and click the Checks Section. This will take you straight to the TPG website. Pro Tip: Google Chrome works best!

Printing a Test Check

It's always a good idea to test the waters! Here's how to print a test check:

  1. Log In: Head to the TPG website and log in.

  2. Navigate to Check Printing: On the left, click Check Printing. This opens the check printing page.

  3. Select Test Check: Click the Print a test check button.

  4. Prep Your Printer: Follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure you load current-year SBTPG check stock into your printer. Then, click the Print a test check button to proceed.

  5. Print Test Check: A PDF with a sample check pops up in a new tab. Now, print it!

    • Chrome: Make sure Fit to paper is NOT checked and Print on both sides is unchecked.

    • Internet Explorer or Adobe Acrobat Reader: Choose the Actual size button.

  6. Confirm Test Check: Did it print okay? If not, reprint!

  7. Return to Main Page: If the test check looks good, click Yes to go back to the main check printing page.

Printing Actual Checks

Alright, let's print those checks for your clients!

  1. Print New Checks: On the main check printing page, click Print new checks. Did you know? The number of checks waiting to be printed shows up as a red bubble next to the Check Printing menu item!

  2. Select Pending Checks: On the pending checks screen, check the box to the left of each check you want to print. Once you select a check, the Print Selected Checks button will appear.

  3. Enter Starting Check Number: When asked, type in the starting check number from the check stock in your printer. Hint: You'll find the starting check number at the top-right of the cashier's check.

  4. Confirm Check Layout: Double-check the check layout version on the check stock. This makes sure you're using the right check stock for the current year.

  5. Print Checks: Click the Print Selected Checks button. A PDF should pop up, so make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off! Review the info on the checks, then click the Print button in the PDF viewer.

  6. Final Confirmation: After printing, you'll see a confirmation message with a link to the printed PDF.

    • If you closed the PDF by accident, click Reopen PDF to print again.

    • If everything printed perfectly, click Done.
