How to Build a Custom Target Portfolio

Overview

A custom target portfolio lets you create a single allocation using multiple models, ETFs, and mutual funds. This approach makes it easy to manage complex investment strategies and apply consistent allocations across multiple accounts.

How To

Step 1: From the Dashboard - Select Create a Target or Targets from the left hand navigation.

Step 2: From the Targets section you can either:

  • Edit an existing target by

    • Searching or selecting a Target Name and editing

OR

  • Create a new asset allocation model by

    • Selecting Add New Target button

Step 3: Enter the name of your strategy or the symbol of the ETF or mutual fund you want to include.

Step 4: Click Add To Target button to add

Step 5: Once the new targets have been added, assign a weighting to each holding. The platform automatically checks that your total allocation doesn’t go above 100%.

Step 6: Open Advanced Mode to adjust tolerance levels.

Step 6 continued: These thresholds control when the rebalancer will trigger. Set upper and lower limits for the full portfolio or for individual securities.

Step 7: Once complete, Save your custom target.

Your created custom target will be available in the Target Names list, which then you may apply this model to multiple accounts for a unified investment approach throughout your client base.

Custom target portfolios make advanced allocation straightforward and help maintain consistency. Use advanced tolerance settings to fine-tune rebalancing and keep your strategies on track.
