Configuring Email and Segment Integrations between SocialLadder and Klaviyo

A Comprehensive Guide to Setting Up Email Communications and Audience Segments

Introduction

This article outlines the details of the current integration that SocialLadder has with Klaviyo. The SocialLadder <> Klaviyo integration allows certain emails that are triggered and sent in SocialLadder to be suppressed and sent via Klaviyo. Additionally, segments that you create in SocialLadder can be placed in Klaviyo as lists for easy segmentation in Klaviyo.

Email Integration

Using Klaviyo to send emails instead of SocialLadder provides enhanced customization and analytics.

Configuring Email Templates in SocialLadder

To ensure that emails are sent via Klaviyo and not SocialLadder, you need to configure your email templates accordingly.

  1. In SL Portal Navigate to Email Templates:

    • Go to Settings > Email Templates

    • Select the email template you want to configure

  2. Suppress SocialLadder Send:

    • Click on the edit icon next to the email template (e.g. Settings > Email Templates > Email Template List > Choose Email > Edit Icon

    • Toggle on the option to Suppress SocialLadder Send

    • Click Update

Example Emails

These below list of emails can be suppressed in SocialLadder so that email communications can come from Klaviyo. Refer to the detailed setup in the Detailed Guide on Using Klaviyo Triggers and Segments with SocialLadder article for more information.

Accepted Ambassador Applicant Email

  • Purpose: Sent once an applicant has been accepted to join your Ambassador Program via the Review Applicant menu in the SL Portal.

  • Klaviyo Event ID: AcceptedApplicantAmbassador​

Ambassador Direct Invite Email

  • Purpose: Sends a personalized email notifying an ambassador that they are invited to join your program, this bypasses the application workflow.

  • Klaviyo Event ID: AmbassadorDirectInvite

Ambassador Welcome Email

  • Purpose: Sends a personalized welcome email each time an ambassador joins, no matter if they join from the Applicant Accepted or the Ambassador Direct Invite workflows including their name and an optional promo code.

  • Klaviyo Event ID: AmbassadorWelcomeEmail​

Reward Redemption

  • Purpose: Sent once an Ambassador redeems a reward in SocialLadder.

  • Klaviyo Event ID: RewardRedeemed

Applicant Rejection Email

  • Purpose: Sends an email to someone that had their application rejected.

  • Klaviyo Event ID: RejectedApplicantAmbassador

Generic Notification

  • Purpose: Sends an email with the notification update (i.e. You have a new challenge!)

  • Klaviyo Event ID: SLGeneralNotification

Segment Integration

When a segment is created in SocialLadder, you have the option to send it to Klaviyo so the segment can also be created in Klaviyo as a list. Once the segment has been created in SocialLadder and Klaviyo, any Ambassadors added to that segment will also be added to the list in Klaviyo (the segments will be replicated in Klaviyo as email lists).

Creating and Replicating Segments

  1. In the SL Portal, navigate to Ambassador Management > Segments, and hit the Add Segment button.

  2. Set the Name, Description and Tags of the Segment, and check the box labeled “Replicate segment in Klaviyo”.

  3. Once the segment is created, it will be visible in Klaviyo as a list.

Usage Scenarios:

  • Geographic Segmentation: Group ambassadors by location (e.g., state or city) and send location-specific promotions.

  • Activity-Based Segmentation: Segment ambassadors based on their activity levels and tailor engagement emails accordingly.
