How to reconnect Canva correctly so the right team’s assets appear in SocioConnect

Some users may notice that when selecting “Select from Canva” inside SocioConnect, the expected design assets do not appear. This relates to how Canva authorises integrations by Team. SocioConnect can only access the active Canva Team at the time of connection. If the wrong team is selected during authorisation, the wrong content (or no content) will appear.

The steps below will help you reconnect Canva properly so the correct team’s assets are visible.


Before You Begin: Check Permissions

If you do not see the "Select from Canva" button at all when creating a post on SocioLocal, it is likely a permission setting rather than a connection error.

In this case, users' SocioLocal profiles will appear like this:

  • Role Permissions: The Canva button is OFF by default for new or existing roles on SocioLocal.

  • Action: An Admin must go to the Brand Role Permissions settings on SocioLocal and ensure the "Canva Button" permission is enabled for your specific role (e.g., Marketer).

The above changes should also be reflected on the user's SocioLocal profile and show that "you have connected SocioConnect to your Canva account":

How to Correct the Canva Connection on Desktop

Step 1 - Switch to the Correct Canva User/Team

1. On canva.com, click your user avatar in the bottom-left corner. (On Mobile, open the Canva App and go to Settings)

2. Under the Teams heading, click the relevant item

3. In the Switch Teams pop-up, select the Team the team that contains the design content you need

Important - The Canva Team you select here determines which assets will be available inside SocioConnect


Step 2 - Reconnect Canva via SocioConnect

  • On Mobile, open the SocioConnect app and go to the posting screen as normal.

5. Click the image selector icon when creating a post

6. Click "Select from Canva"

A Canva authorisation dialogue will open


Step 3 - Check for the Team Selector

7. Look for a "Team selector dropdown" in the pop-up:

  • If the "Team Selector" does NOT appear, close the dialogue (do not click Allow or Cancel). Return to Step 5 and switch Teams again in Canva

  • If the "Team Selector" DOES appear, select the correct Team from the dropdown

8. Click Allow


Step 4 - Confirm Access

9. You should now see the correct Team's designs inside SocioConnect.

If you need to access content from a different Canva Team in the future, you will need to repeat this process from Step 1. Canva requires the integration to be disconnected before the Team selection dialog will reappear.
