Soma Analytics gives you two ways to train and track progress: Live Mode and Plan Mode. They use the same tools but serve different purposes depending on how you want to train.
Live Mode
What it is
Live Mode is used for quick, flexible training sessions. It lets you pick any task from your favorites list in Soma NPT and start right away.
When to use it
Use Live Mode when you want to train freely without following a structured plan. It’s perfect for testing, warm-ups, short focus sessions, or spontaneous workouts.
How it works
Each Live Mode session is separate from your regular training plan. The data is stored independently so it doesn’t affect plan reports or long-term tracking.
Key benefit
Gives athletes and coaches total flexibility to train anytime, anywhere, without setup.
Plan Mode
What it is
Plan Mode is for structured, goal-based training. Athletes follow a plan that includes specific tasks, durations, and modes set by the coach in Soma Analytics.
When to use it
Use Plan Mode for ongoing programs where you want to track performance, monitor progress, and apply progressive overload.
How it works
All data collected in Plan Mode is stored and organized automatically, making it easy to review trends, compare sessions, and adjust the plan as needed.
Key benefit
Provides structure and consistency so coaches can track adaptation and results over time.
