If one-off content sales are the sugar rush of creator income, memberships are the steady drip. π§
Recurring monthly support from your biggest fans. Set tiers, offer perks, build a community that pays you to keep being you. This is the income model that builds careers. π
The 30-Second Version β±οΈ
β
Supporters pay you monthly to access exclusive content, perks, or community
β
You set the tiers β Bronze through Diamond, your call
β
Recurring income = predictable, stable, scalable
β
Your highest-value supporters typically come from memberships
β
Up to Β£100/month per tier
β
Account required Β· card only
β
3 approved posts every 28 days keeps it running
β
Set it up once, earn while you sleep πΈ
What memberships actually are π
A membership is a monthly subscription to your content. Supporters pay a recurring amount β Β£5, Β£15, Β£50, whatever you choose β and unlock whatever you've put behind that tier.
Same model as Patreon, Netflix, Spotify. Just with you as the boss. π
The big advantages over one-off support
π Recurring revenue β predictable income you can plan around
π Compounding effect β each new member adds to your monthly baseline
π₯ Community building β members are your most engaged supporters
π Deeper relationships β recurring means invested means loyal
π― Easier to forecast β you know roughly what next month looks like
π¦ Better fee efficiency β a Β£20 membership carries the fixed Β£1 admin fee far better than four Β£5 purchases do
If you're serious about creator income as a real career path, memberships are non-negotiable.
How to set up your tiers π οΈ
Dashboard β Features β Memberships β Create tier
Step 1: Pick how many tiers to offer
Our recommendation: 3 tiers max to start.
β
One tier β simple, but limits your ability to capture different supporter budgets
β
Three tiers β the sweet spot. Captures casual, regular and big-spending supporters
β Five or more β decision fatigue. Supporters get overwhelmed and pick none
You can always add a tier later. Removing one is much messier, so start lean.
Step 2: Set prices per tier
Tier | Price | Who it's for |
π₯ Bronze | Β£5βΒ£15/mo | Casual fans who want a taste |
π₯ Silver | Β£20βΒ£40/mo | Regular supporters who want real value |
π₯ Gold | Β£50βΒ£75/mo | Big fans who want deeper engagement |
π Diamond (Whale) | Β£80βΒ£100/mo | Your top supporters, closest access |
β οΈ Β£100/month is the ceiling per tier. For supporters who want to spend beyond that, point them at Paid Tasks or higher-value one-off content β those carry much higher limits and often suit a big spender better anyway. π³
Step 3: A note on tier names π·οΈ
Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Lifetime β the names are cosmetic.
They set expectations and they look good on a profile, but the platform doesn't treat them differently. What matters is what you actually deliver inside each one.
A Diamond tier with nothing in it is worth less than a well-stocked Bronze β and your members will work that out fast. π
Step 4: Define the perks per tier
This is where memberships live or die. Each tier needs real, distinct value.
Don't put "early access by 30 minutes." That's not a value proposition, that's an insult. π¬
π₯ Bronze ideas:
Members-only badge or colour
A private feed β 1β2 exclusive posts a week
Early access to public content
Monthly members-only Q&As
Subscriber Discord or Telegram
π₯ Silver β everything above, plus:
Exclusive content drops, 3β5 a month
Behind-the-scenes content
Voice notes and personalised intros
Members-only livestreams
A monthly group call
π₯ Gold β everything above, plus:
Personalised greetings or shoutouts
Direct DM access, within reason
Exclusive merch drops
Voting on future content
π Diamond β everything above, plus:
A 1:1 monthly chat or session
Custom content requests
First look at everything, before anyone
Step 5: Set delivery expectations
Be specific about what subscribers get and when.
β
"3 exclusive posts per week, every Mon/Wed/Fri"
β
"Monthly group call, first Sunday at 8pm UK"
β
"Quarterly merch drop with a members-only discount"
β "Lots of content!"
β "Whenever I feel like it!"
β "Plus more surprises π"
Vague kills conversion. People buy specifics. π―

What you can't π«
β Off-platform money exchanges β payment stays on-platform, always
β Adult content β we're SFW only
β Anything illegal or against platform rules
β οΈ The core content requirement
Every membership must deliver real content on-platform. That's the enforced part.
Optional extras sit on top β Discord, Telegram, close friends lists, group calls. Genuinely valuable additions. But they're additions, not the substance.
A membership whose only value lives off-platform isn't a membership β and it's the fastest route to a dispute you can't defend, because there's no delivery record for a Telegram message. π‘οΈ
Quick note π·: every purchase on Spenny Piggy delivers content. We're a content platform, not Venmo with vibes.β¨ It keeps us compliant with Stripe, banks and payment regulators, and it protects you legally as Merchant of Record. π
The posting rule π
3 approved pieces of content in every 28-day window keeps your memberships running.
Miss it and memberships pause β existing members stop being billed, new sign-ups stop, and your one-off features carry on unaffected. β οΈ
Posting brings it straight back. No penalty, no appeal, no waiting on us. β
β° Approved, not uploaded. Reviews run 11amβ6pm GMT, seven days a week, so posting at 11pm on day 28 won't save you β it'll be reviewed the next day, after your memberships have already paused. Post with days to spare.
Why it exists: recurring payments only stay stable when the content genuinely recurs. Platforms that let people collect monthly money without delivering are exactly the platforms that lose their payment processing. We'd rather nudge you than lose the whole thing. π‘οΈ
In practice: 3 posts in 28 days is less than one a week. If you're active at all, you'll never notice this rule exists. Your dashboard shows where you are in the current window.
How payments work π³
When supporters subscribe
Supporter picks their tier
They create an account β required for anything recurring
They enter payment details
They pay the full first month immediately, plus fees
The recurring subscription kicks in for future months
β οΈ Card only. Recurring billing needs a payment method chargeable automatically each cycle, so Pay by Bank isn't available for memberships even if they used it elsewhere.
When the monthly renewal happens
ποΈ Charged on the same date each month, automatically
π° You receive your tier price in full β supporters cover the fees
π It runs in the background. You don't do anything.
When you actually get paid π¦
Membership earnings join your normal weekly cycle: Friday to Thursday, paid the following Friday, usually landing Monday.
π New accounts: 10% held for the first 30 days, released automatically, then nothing.
When supporters cancel
πͺ They cancel from their own account, any time, no hoops
π Membership stays active to the end of their current billing period
π No new charge the following month
β¨ You see it in your dashboard so you can adapt
Why cancellation is deliberately easy: making it hard turns a cancellation into a chargeback β and a chargeback costs you the money, a dispute fee whether you win or lose, and a mark against your account. π·
If a card fails
β οΈ Auto-retried over the following few days
π§ The supporter is notified to update their card
βΈοΈ If retries fail, the membership pauses β not cancelled. They can update and resume.
π‘ Watch your dashboard for these. It's almost always a replaced card someone's forgotten about, and a friendly message fixes it in a minute. Ignoring it loses you a member who never meant to leave.
Pricing strategy π―
"Should I price low to get more members?"
No. Pricing too low signals low value. Most supporters who'd pay Β£5 would happily pay Β£10. Test higher than you think.
"Should I run promotional discounts?"
Sparingly. Discounts attract supporters who churn fast, and a full-price long-term member is worth far more than a discount-grabber. If you do run one, set a clear deadline β open-ended discounts cheapen the offering.
"How often should I raise prices?"
β
Existing members stay at their original price. Increases apply to new members only.
β
Once you've validated demand, raise every 6β12 months for new members
β
Make sure each increase comes with real new value
"What if members are churning?"
π You haven't been posting consistently in their tier
π Perks aren't being delivered
π They got what they needed and moved on β sometimes that's just normal
π A payment failed and they didn't update their card
Track your churn rate. Healthy creator memberships run 5β15% monthly churn. Above 20% means something needs fixing. π§
Keeping members subscribed π
Over-deliver in month one. The first cycle decides whether there's a second.
Drip content regularly. Don't ghost members for three weeks then dump everything at once. Consistency is what they're paying for.
Treat them like the VIPs they are. Name-drops, personal replies, first look. Recurring members are backing you β being noticed is half the value.
Batch your creating. Make a month's worth in one session, schedule it, stop thinking about it.
Communicate when life happens. Tell them before the billing date, pause if you need to. Late is fine if it's communicated. Ghosting is what kills memberships. π
Common questions π€
"Can supporters upgrade or downgrade?"
Yes, from their account. Upgrades take effect immediately with a prorated charge. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. π
"Can supporters preview tier perks before subscribing?"
Your tier description is what they see before deciding. Sell it properly there β bullet points, clear value. π―
"How do I deliver members-only content?"
Members automatically unlock the gated content tied to their tier. You just post β the platform handles who sees what.β¨
"Can I offer free trials?"
Not as a built-in feature currently. Informal promos are fine, but the billing itself has no trial mechanism.
"What if I miss a delivery?"
βCommunicate. Late with an explanation is survivable; silence isn't. π
"Can I have multiple membership systems?"
One per account, with multiple tiers inside it. Most creators don't need more than three. π―
"How do I promote my memberships?"
β
Pin the offer in your bio
β
Mention it casually in content, not aggressively
β
Show snippets of exclusive content publicly to tease
β
Talk to your biggest one-off buyers β invite them to upgrade
β
Run quarterly "open house" weeks reminding people what they get
"Do I have to deliver perks every month?"
Yes. Members pay monthly and expect ongoing value. Taking a holiday? Communicate it and make up for it. β¨
"What if a supporter abuses access?"
βBlock them. You're in control of your community. We don't force you to keep abusive supporters. π‘οΈ
"Do memberships count toward my bonuses?"
Yes β card earnings count toward the Founder Bonus, the Fast Start 5%, and qualification thresholds. Bonuses & Referrals ππ·
"What happens to members if my memberships pause?"
They aren't cancelled automatically, but billing stops. People who stop hearing from you do cancel eventually β that's not the rule, that's just what happens.
