Splash: Team Use Limits for NCAAB Contests

When creating an NCAAB contest, commissioners can control how many times each team may be selected throughout the contest by using Team Use Limits.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

This setting impacts overall strategy, difficulty, and how long entrants can rely on the same teams to advance.

What Are Team Use Limits?

Team Use Limits determine the maximum number of times an entrant can pick the same team over the course of the contest.

Once a team reaches its use limit, it can no longer be selected for future picks.

Available Team Use Limit Options

Once (Default)

  • Each team may be picked only one time

  • After a team is used, it becomes unavailable for the rest of the contest

  • Encourages long-term planning and team management

This is the default setting for NCAAB contests.

Twice

  • Each team may be picked up to two times

  • Teams become unavailable after being selected twice

  • Allows for more flexibility while still requiring strategy

Unlimited

  • Teams can be picked as many times as desired

  • No restrictions on repeat selections

  • Focuses more on individual game outcomes than long-term planning

How Team Use Limits Affect Gameplay

  • Lower limits increase difficulty and eliminate reliance on top seeds

  • Higher limits allow safer, repeat picks

  • Limits apply across the entire contest, not per day or round

Once a team hits its limit, it is unavailable for all future picks.

Availability by Contest Format

  • โœ… Pick-By-Day: Team use limits available

  • โœ… Pick-By-Round: Team use limits available

Both formats support the same team use limit options.

Choosing the Right Team Use Limit

Choose Once if you want:

  • Maximum strategy and planning

  • A more challenging contest

Choose Twice if you want:

  • Balanced flexibility and strategy

  • Less early elimination pressure

Choose Unlimited if you want:

  • Simplicity

  • A more casual or beginner-friendly experience

Team Use Limits give commissioners powerful control over how strategic or flexible their NCAAB contest will be, helping you create the experience that best fits your group.
