Understanding the Contest Details Page (Splash-Managed Contests)

The Contest Details page provides a complete overview of how your Splash-managed NCAAB contest works.

This page is visible to both commissioners and entrants and outlines, may look different based on your specific contest and contest format:

  • Prize payouts

  • Scoring rules

  • Entry and pick deadlines

  • Contest structure

  • Key settings

It serves as the official summary of your contest configuration.


Prize Payouts

At the top of the page, you’ll see the Prize Payouts section.

Example:

  • 1st – $45.00

  • Resizable (R)

This section shows:

  • The prize breakdown by placement

  • Whether payouts are fixed or resizable

  • Total prize pool distribution

What Does “Resizable” Mean?

If the contest does not fill to its projected size:

  • The payout amounts automatically adjust

  • Prize amounts scale based on the final number of entries

About This Contest

This section explains how the specific contest format works.

Depending on the contest type, this may describe:

  • How entrants make picks (per slate, per day, or per round)

  • How points are awarded (Pick’Em)

  • How survival and elimination works (Survivor)

  • Any special requirements (number of picks per slate)

This overview ensures entrants understand the format before participating.


Contest Overview Information

This section provides a high-level summary of key details:

Sport

Basketball (NCAAB)

Contest Type

Pick’Em, Survivor – Pick by Day, or Survivor – Round by Round

Multi-Entry

Indicates whether entrants may enter once or multiple times.

Creator

The username of the commissioner who created the contest.

Slate

Allows users to view all included days or rounds in the contest.

Entry Deadline

The final time entrants are allowed to join the contest.

Important:
In Splash-managed contests, entrants cannot join after the entry deadline has passed.

Pick Deadline

Indicates when picks lock. This may be:

  • Each Game Start

  • First Game of Slate

  • First Game of Round


Contest Settings

This section reflects the exact configuration selected during contest setup.

Depending on the contest type, you may see:

Picks Per Day / Picks Per Round

The number of required selections per slate, day, or round.

Team Use Limit

Shows whether teams may be selected:

  • 1 time

  • 2 times

  • Unlimited

Pick Scoring

Displays how selections are evaluated:

  • Straight Up (winner only)

  • Against the Spread (must cover spread)

Pick Objective

Indicates whether entrants are selecting:

  • Winners

  • Losers


Rules (Scoring Breakdown)

This section details exactly how points or advancement are calculated.

For Pick’Em contests:

  • Points per correct selection are displayed

  • Incorrect or missed picks earn 0 points

For Survivor contests:

  • Incorrect selections result in elimination (unless additional lives apply)

This section provides full transparency into how standings are determined.


Entrants

This section displays:

  • The number of current entrants

  • Participant names (once entries are submitted)

If it shows:
“No entrants yet”

The contest is live but no one has entered.

  • Displays deadlines and lock times

  • Provides transparency before entry
