Entertainment Only NCAAB Survivor Pool Starting Day / Starting Round Settings

When creating an Entertainment-Only NCAAB Survivor contest, commissioners must choose the Pool Starting Day (or Starting Round). This setting determines when your contest officially begins.

Updated over a week ago

What the Starting Day Controls

The selected starting day is the point at which:

  • Standings begin to be calculated

  • Eliminations and advancements start to count

  • Picks are evaluated for survival

Any games played before this day are not included in your pool’s results.

Why This Setting Matters

Choosing the correct starting day allows you to:

  • Start a pool after the tournament has already begun

  • Accommodate late joiners

  • Run shorter or custom-length Survivor contests

  • Align the pool with your group’s schedule

For example, if you start on Day 3, only picks from Day 3 onward will determine survival.

Can You Change the Starting Day Later?

⚠️ No — this setting becomes locked once picks have been made.

After participants submit picks for the contest:

  • The starting day cannot be modified

  • Standings calculations rely on this selection

  • Changing it would invalidate prior picks

Be sure to confirm your desired start day before inviting members or allowing picks.

Best Practices

To avoid issues:

  • Decide your start day before sharing the contest link

  • Communicate the start date clearly to participants

  • Verify the setting during contest setup

If you plan to begin after the tournament has started, double-check that the correct day or round is selected.

Summary

The Pool Starting Day determines when your Survivor contest officially begins and when standings start to count. Because it cannot be changed after picks are submitted, choosing the correct start day during setup is essential for a smooth contest experience.
