Overview
Buybacks (also called Entry Revivals) give eliminated entrants a second chance to re-enter the contest by paying a revival fee. This feature is only available in the Knockout Stage Only template and must be enabled by the commissioner.
How It Works
You are eliminated from the contest during an eligible round.
Wait for the current slate to conclude before reviving — you cannot revive mid-slate.
Once the slate ends, you have until the start of the next round to pay the revival fee and submit your pick.
Your entry is reinstated and you continue in the contest.
What Is the Revival Deadline?
The revival deadline is the Round of 16 — this is the only option available for World Cup Survivor. If you are eliminated after the Round of 16 begins, buybacks are no longer available.
Buybacks are also not available for contests that begin in the Round of 16 or later.
How Much Does a Revival Cost?
The commissioner sets the revival fee when creating the contest. The options are:
Same as the entry fee (Default)
Double the entry fee
Triple the entry fee
Check your contest's settings to see what the revival fee is before deciding whether to revive.
Where Does the Revival Fee Go?
Revival fees are added to the total prize pool once the revival deadline passes or the contest ends — whichever comes first. This means a buyback increases the prize available to the winner.
How Many Times Can I Revive?
By default, each entry is allowed one revival per contest. The commissioner may have adjusted this limit — check your contest's settings to confirm.
Why Can't I See the Buyback Option?
Buybacks may not be available if:
The commissioner did not enable the Buyback / Revival setting.
The revival deadline (Round of 16) has already passed.
The current slate is still in progress — you must wait for it to conclude.
You have already used your maximum allowed revivals.
The contest started in the Round of 16 or later.
