QuickPicks: Soccer & World Cup Player Does Not Play (DNP) Rules

What is a DNP in Soccer?

For Soccer and World Cup QuickPicks contests, a player must be in the starting lineup for their selection to be considered active.

⚠️ Soccer-Specific Rule: Unlike some other sports, soccer players must start the match to be considered active. Players who enter as substitutes will be graded as DNP.

If a player does not start the match, they will be graded as DNP (Did Not Play), even if they later enter the match as a substitute and record statistics.

How are substitute players graded?

A player who enters the match off the bench is still considered a DNP for QuickPicks grading purposes if they were not part of the starting lineup.

Example

✅ Player starts the match and records a statistic
Result: Selection is graded normally.

❌ Player enters as a substitute in the 60th minute and records a shot on goal
Result: Selection is graded as DNP.

❌ Player remains on the bench and never enters the match
Result: Selection is graded as DNP.

Why does Splash Sports use this rule?

Starting lineups in soccer are officially announced before kickoff and provide a consistent standard for grading all participants. Because substitutes may have significantly different playing opportunities than starters, all soccer player selections require the player to start the match to be considered active.

How does a DNP affect my QuickPicks entry?

When a soccer player is graded as DNP:

  • The selection is treated according to the applicable QuickPicks DNP rules.

  • Depending on the contest format and remaining selections, entries may be downgraded, refunded, or scored based on the remaining active picks.

  • All DNPs are processed according to the official QuickPicks Rules.

Important Reminder

Before submitting a Soccer or World Cup QuickPicks entry, we recommend monitoring starting lineups whenever possible. Players who do not appear in the starting lineup will be graded as DNP, regardless of whether they later enter the match.
