Spriggy and NAB

More about how Spriggy and NAB are working together

Updated over a week ago

Together, Spriggy and NAB are helping to make young Aussies money smart for life.

Like Spriggy, NAB is committed to supporting families with the financial tools they need to teach kids about money. We intend to work together on a number of initiatives that help families build financial confidence. Motivated by feedback we have received from families, we have built a referral experience that makes the transition out of Spriggy and into an adult bank account smoother for kids when the time is right for them.

Is Spriggy owned by NAB?

No, Spriggy is owned by its team members, and a number of investors. NAB Ventures participated in our Series B capital raise and is a shareholder.

Who is being presented with NAB product information?

You may have seen information about how to apply for a NAB Classic Banking Account and an optional NAB savings account inside your Spriggy app. Spriggy is working with NAB as a trusted partner to help facilitate a smoother transition into adult banking for families with older kids. The referral experience is designed to assist your child in applying for their first bank account. With your support, your child should consider whether the products are appropriate for them.

If they decide to proceed with applying for a NAB bank account, they will need to complete the application process from your device.

Why is the application process on my device? Is the product information being shown to my child in the Spriggy child app or SPRK mode?

NAB product information inside Spriggy is only shown in the parent app. This is because parents are a trusted resource for kids as they make their first independent decisions on how to manage their money. We also believe it is important to give parents oversight on any parallel products that their child might want to consider.

NAB related content will not be shown in the Spriggy kids app or SPRK mode at this stage.

Will Spriggy or NAB be collecting my child’s personal data?

If your child decides that they would like to apply for a NAB bank account, the personal data they enter during the application process will be captured by NAB only. Although the NAB product information and application process is housed within the Spriggy app, the data goes directly to NAB. The account opening process is wholly managed by NAB according to their usual account opening processes. If you have any issues with the account opening process, these will need to be handled by a NAB representative.

What if my child doesn’t have two forms of ID?

Completing online ID verification can be difficult for kids, particularly before they are able to get their first driver's licence. If your child does not have two of the eligible forms of ID to complete the NAB application form, they will need to take their available ID and complete the process in-branch.

My child was not able to apply for a NAB account in the Spriggy app, what do I do next?

If your child encountered issues with their NAB account application process, they will need to contact NAB customer support team by calling 13 2265 or visit their local NAB branch for assistance.

Can my child continue to use Spriggy after opening a NAB account?

Your child’s Spriggy card and app will continue to work until you decide to cancel their membership. We know that opening a bank account is a different experience for every child and that every family will transition out of Spriggy differently.

How do I talk to someone about NAB products?

If you have questions about seeing NAB product information in the Spriggy app, please contact our Member Experience team via the “Help and Legal” option inside the Settings menu inside your Spriggy app.

If you have questions about any NAB products you see inside the Spriggy app or the application process itself, please contact NAB’s customer support team by calling 13 2265 or visit your local NAB branch for assistance.
