Overview
Penelope’s PostgreSQL database will be upgraded from version 13 to PostgreSQL 16.8 R2 as part of our March 2026 release. This upgrade ensures:
A secure, supported foundation for your data
Improved performance and system reliability
Continued compatibility with tools like Tableau, ODBC/JDBC connections, and custom SQL views
Scheduled upgrade windows
Penelope will be temporarily unavailable (up to 4 hours) during your region’s maintenance window:
Australia & New Zealand: March 6, 2026 – 09:00–13:00 EST
UK (Relate): March 9, 2026 – 01:00–03:00 EST
UK, US & Canada: March 9, 2026 – 01:00–05:00 EST
During this time, access to Penelope — including sandbox environments — will be unavailable.
How to prepare
Inform your staff about the upcoming downtime
Ensure your teams avoid scheduling time-sensitive work during the upgrade window.
Check your database tools and drivers
If your organization connects to the Penelope database directly (e.g., for reporting or data integration), confirm you're using supported versions of your tools:
Tool | Recommended version | Notes |
pgAdmin | Version 7.8 or higher |
|
psqlODBC | Version 16.0 or higher | Older versions may still connect after the upgrade, but were released prior to PostgreSQL 16 and may not support all features — they are not recommended for production use. |
pgJDBC | Version 42.6+ or 42.7.x or higher | Older versions may still connect after the upgrade, but were released prior to PostgreSQL 16 and may not support all features — they are not recommended for production use. |
Test any custom reporting or integrations
If you use custom views, ODBC/JDBC connections, or BI tools like Tableau, your technical team should plan to test those connections after the upgrade and update connection strings or recreate any impacted custom views if needed.
