Using AI Analyst on Standard Metrics

AI Analyst is an intelligent assistant built directly into Standard Metrics, designed to help you quickly understand and analyze your portfolio companies. Whether you’re preparing for a partner meeting or need a fast refresh on company performance, AI Analyst delivers insights instantly, based on the data already in your workspace.

Where can I find AI Analyst?

AI Analyst can be accessed on any page in Standard Metrics by clicking on the AI Analyst tab in the navigation bar.

What Can AI Analyst Do?

AI Analyst leverages both qualitative and quantitative data stored on Standard Metrics. That includes:

  • Qualitative: notes, tear sheets, and custom column data

  • Quantitative: revenue, EBITDA, runway, and other metrics (both Standard and Custom)

Key Features

Instant, Context-Rich Answers

Ask questions like:

  • “Can you summarize this company in 3 bullet points?”

  • “What is the current cash burn?”

  • “Do you think we should participate in their next round?”

  • “How does this company compare to its competitors?”

AI Analyst responds with concise, data-driven answers based on the most recent company information.

Conversation History

  • Navigate past chats using the top scrollbar

  • Click the New Chat icon to begin a fresh session (helpful if you’ve just added new data)

Privacy and Access

  • AI Analyst only accesses companies you already have permission to view

  • All chats are user-specific: your teammates won’t see your chat history

  • Data used in chats is not shared with AI model providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) for training purposes. (Conversations may be used internally by our product team to improve the feature.)

Who Can Use AI Analyst?

All user roles, including Admins, Editors, Viewers, and Custom Roles.

AI Analyst is powered by multiple top models working in tandem, tailored with a system prompt focused on analytical accuracy and brevity.
