[Alt Text King] How to use the app?

Updated over a week ago

Using Alt Text King is pretty straightforward.

Step 1: Create your Alt text template in the App settings page

  • Navigate to the App settings page in the Alt Text King app.

  • In the section Alt text template, create the alt text using the following tags.
{{ variant }}: Adds variant name only when you are using Variant Image Automator app
{{ product_title }}: Adds product title in the alt text
{{ product_type }}: Adds product type in the alt text
{{ image_name }}: Adds the image name in the alt text
{{ product_vendor }}: Add the product vendor in the alt text.

  • For example, you can set the template as: {{ product_title }}-{{ image_name }}. This will add the product title and image name to the alt text of the product images.

Step 2: Enable Master switch button to update alt texts daily

  • In the App settings page, enable the Master switch button. This will enable the alt text updates and schedule it daily. You can also Update now button if you need to update it manually at any time.

Step 3: Add exceptions if you want to exclude certain images from updating alt text

  • If you want to exclude cetain images from from being updated then you will need to add the alt text pattern in the Manage Alt text exceptions section in the App settings page.

  • For example, you can add a pattern like "featured". The app will not update the images where "featured" is present in the alt text.

  • By default, the following patterns are added in exceptions: "featured", "#", "youtube", "vimeo", ".mp4"

You can share feature request for more tags for creating the alt-text.
