You Must Own the Rights to Content You Display
You take full responsibility for the works you upload and display on StartPlaying.
This is reflected in the StartPlaying Terms of Service. Use of the StartPlaying website indicates continued acceptance of these Terms.
Please make sure if someone else has created or owns the rights to a picture, painting, photograph, logo, or any other work, copyright, trademark or publicity right (regardless of whether it’s an individual or a large global company), obtain consent before you use that work in connection with the StartPlaying service.
If you don't obtain consent, you will be fully responsible for any outcomes of infringing on that copyright.
Note: This policy specifically refers to content you upload and display on the website. This does not apply to media in the game itself, as that is not being publicly displayed.
Artwork Provided by Publishers
StartPlaying partners with various tabletop companies for different promotional and charity events. These publishers provide StartPlaying Game Masters with artwork they may use for their game listings.
If a Game Master is found to be using art by one of these publishers and it is not in our Art from Publishers/Game Systems folder, or the publisher has not provided express permission to the StartPlaying team, StartPlaying will immediately take action on that Game Master's account. The folder serves as an immediate confirmation of what artwork is and is not permitted to be used by the publisher.
Copyright Complaints & DMCA Compliance
StartPlaying respects the intellectual property rights of others and we expect our users to do the same.
StartPlaying can’t speak on behalf of intellectual property owners. StartPlaying is also not in a position to offer legal advice or make legal determinations whether a user's content infringes someone else’s intellectual property. StartPlaying will remove material cited for alleged intellectual property infringement when provided with a report that complies with our policies.
To report infringement on StartPlaying, you must be authorized to act on behalf of the intellectual property owner.
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been infringed, you should submit a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) takedown request to support@startplayinggames.com (Subject line: “DMCA Takedown Request”) with the following:
A description and proof of ownership of the copyrighted work, including any registration number, if applicable.
Your physical or electronic signature or that of an authorized representative.
A description and specific link to the allegedly infringing content.
Your contact information (address, phone number, and email).
A statement that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is unauthorized.
A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
Each notice is limited to ten (10) individual claims per submission. If more than ten claims are included, StartPlaying will only address the first ten in that notice.
Counter Notice
If you believe that removal of the content is the result of a mistake (for example, that you have authorization) or identification, you can send us a Counter Notice using the form below.
Such counter-notice must provide the following information:
An electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the relevant matter;
a description of the content which we have removed, including the URL on which the content was located on the StartPlaying site;
your address, telephone number, and email address;
a statement by you that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court, San Francisco County, California, United States and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided notification described above or an agent of such person;
a statement by you that, under penalty of perjury, you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled.
Repeat Infringer Policy
If an account is found to be in violation of any of our content or account policies, including the Terms of Service, Code of Conduct, and Intellectual Property Policy, or is otherwise being used for purposes StartPlaying was not designed for, that account will be subject to our 3 Strikes policy, up to and including immediate and permanent disablement of the account.
