What is the "In-Person Opportunities & Beta Programs" toggle on my profile?
This setting controls whether StartPlaying includes you in our growing in-person initiatives. When opted in, you're telling us you're open to in-person work and willing to participate in early tests of our in-person features as we build out that part of the platform.
What kinds of opportunities does this include?
A few different things:
In-person activations: We occasionally host live gaming events where we bring GMs together to run games at a venue. Past examples include a Chicago event where ten GMs ran tables at a rented venue.
Corporate games: We have previously booked GMs for in-person corporate events and team experiences, this will make it easier to identity GMs in those locations.
Beta features: As we build out our In-Person vertical over the coming months, opted-in GMs will be included in early feature tests. This may include things like displaying your city/state to players browsing for in-person games and other location-based search tools.
What happens to my location data if I opt in?
If you opt in, your city and state may be shown to players as part of in-person search features during our beta rollout. You may also be contacted for in-person events and opportunities.
What if I don't opt in?
No problem, your location will never be shared with players. Opting out has no impact on your ability to run online games or appear in online games search results.
Can I change my preference later?
Yes. You can update this toggle in your profile settings at any time.
