If you have just wandered onto the site, you probably have a few questions about who we are, what we do, and why we are here. I will do my best to answer those questions for you here!

1. What is StartPlaying?

StartPlaying is the largest online platform for players to find games and Game Masters for any game system and any virtual tabletop! We host hundreds of GMs on our site so that players can find the perfect GM for their group of friends or join a brand new group and make new friends along the way.

2. How do I become a GM on StartPlaying?

If you want to list your games and join StartPlaying as a Game Master, you will need to create an account, then create your GM profile.

3. How much does it cost to use the site?

For players: it will depend on what GM and game you book with. All of our GMs set their own prices for their services.

For GMs: StartPlaying takes a 10% cut of any game bookings and you can charge whatever price you feel is fair for your services!

4. How do you vet your Game Masters?

We allow anyone to join as a GM but have rigorous requirements for game listings and only show verified GMs in Game Master Search. If you are a GM struggling to get listed in that GM Search, you can refer to these articles for help.

5: How does payment work?

Players are charged 1 hour after the start of a game. This gives our GMs a little wiggle room to be able to cancel a game if there are technical difficulties.

GMs will see the payment in the Payouts section of their GM Dashboard. If a customer's payment fails, we send them an email with a link to update their payment details. All payments are handled directly through the site so that no third-party apps will be needed. (It goes against our Terms of Service to use a 3rd party app for payments)

If you have a question not addressed in this article, please email us at support@startplayinggames.com, and we will reply as soon as possible!
