Stora Identity helps you automatically verify your customers’ identities using Stripe Identity. This article explains why to use it, how it works, what it costs, and what to expect for you and your customers.

No setup required

To use Stora Identity, all you need to do is turn it on from your Check-in page. There's no commitment; you can try it out and instantly switch back to one of our existing check-in approaches if desired.


How it Works

After a customer makes a booking, they are asked to verify their identity by taking a photo of an ID document and a selfie.

The verification flow runs inside your Storefront, so customers never have to leave your website. If they start on a desktop computer, they can move the process to their phone to complete it more easily.

Stripe checks the photos against global databases so your customers’ identities can be verified with confidence.

If a customer does not verify, it is up to you to decide whether to continue with them as a customer or not.

⚠️ Stora does not cancel bookings automatically when a customer fails or skips identity verification. You decide whether to proceed, follow up, or cancel.


Pricing

You pay a small fee for each automated document check at the rate agreed when you became a Stora customer. Any fees for identity checks are tallied and billed quarterly.


Good to know

  • View the list of accepted document types here. Don't forget to select your country first.

  • If an identity check fails, the customer can retry up to two more times.

  • You can give a customer extra attempts from their Contact page by using the Identity verification section.

  • You can also press Skip there to remove the requirement for that customer to verify their identity.

  • You can see the status of all identity checks from your Contacts page by selecting Identity checks at the top.
