You have two options for getting your Map created. First, you can do it yourself—all the tools are right there in Stora. If you’d prefer to have it done for you, we offer a map-building service, which you can learn about here.
Here’s how to create your Map
Go to your Site page (e.g. Leicester)
Once you have added Unit Types and Units, you will then be able to build your Site Map.
Click Create, and you will be taken to the Build Mode screen, where you can start building your Site Map.
Build Mode
You will build your site map in this full-screen experience. On the left, you will see a sidebar with some help if you need it. On the right, you will see controls for navigating your canvas.

Adding an item to the canvas
On the left-hand sidebar, you will see a section that says Units. You have two options here: you can add Units, or you can add More Items (Background Image, areas, walls, rooms, text, arrows, toilets, etc).
To add a unit to the canvas
If you hover over any Unit in the left sidebar you will see an Add button appear.
Once you click Add, that unit will be added to the Canvas, as shown below.
Note: All Units will appear in relative size to each other on the Canvas by default. e.g. A 20 sq ft Unit will appear double the size of a 10 sq ft Unit and so on.
Resizing an Item
If you need to resize a Unit, you can grab one of the corners on the Canvas and drag it to resize.
The other option is to enter a numerical value on the left-hand sidebar with the dimensions you want to resize to.
Note: You can reset the size at any time by clicking on Reset Size.
Rotating an Item
To rotate a unit, you can grab the handle and drag it to rotate.
The other option is to enter a numerical value on the left-hand sidebar indicating the exact angle you would like to rotate.
Move the Door
You can move the door by clicking on the Move Door button. Keep clicking until the door has moved to the correct position on the Unit.
Remove an Item from the Canvas
To remove any item from the canvas, select it with your cursor and click on the Remove Unit button on the left-hand sidebar. You can also hit Backspace on your keyboard.
Adding More Items
If you click on More Items on the left sidebar, you will see a list of custom shapes or text you can add to your canvas.

Watch this short video on how to upload a background image:
Adding a coloured Area
You can add coloured areas to your map to differentiate between areas. Click on More Items > Area to add. You can adjust the colour of the Area using the colour dropdown. You can also adjust the opacity by moving the slider.
The coloured area will appear behind your units, as shown below:
Adding Bounding Walls
You can also add bounding Walls to mark the walls of your facility.
Locking and Unlocking Items
The background image, Areas and Walls can all be locked. This enables you to still select multiple units in the area placed above these items. When one of these items is selected, you will see the option to Lock Position.
