Creating subscriptions using payment method 'Other'
Creating subscriptions using payment method 'Other'

Send customers an invoice with a payment link and automate their card payments each month, or send a request to add a card to their account

Updated over a week ago

Overview

This way of creating subscriptions can be useful to get customer across to Stora. The premise is that your customer will be emailed an invoice that they can pay via card. Once the customer pays this first invoice using their card, the subscription will be set up for future recurring card payments automatically. Customers can also add a card to their account before the invoice generates.

  1. Create the subscription using payment method Other and ensure the box below is ticked. The move in day is the billing date in Stora, so they will be emailed an invoice on the date chosen as move in. (If you are moving customers across from your previous billing system, select the date that would be their next billing date, and then ensure they are cancelled in your previous system.)

  2. You can also choose to send the customer an email to add a card during subscription creation by selecting Add payment card request. (This email can also be sent after subscription from the customers profile.)

  3. Once the customer pays via card, the invoice will update to 'Paid' and the subscription will be set up for future automatic payments automatically.

If the customer adds a payment card before the subscription starts, the payment will be taken using that card automatically, and used for the subsequent payments.

*Pro Tip: We recommend disabling link payments on your Stripe account while you are migrating customers. Double check they're switched off here.

Customers can also add a card to their account before the invoice generates.
