Learn how to request a card payment be added to a subscription

Set a subscription as "Awaiting payment card"

When creating a subscription with a manual payment method, you’ll be asked if you want to automatically link any added card. If enabled, the customer’s card will be linked if they add one via the customer portal or if you add it via the Backoffice.

Existing subscriptions with manual payment methods can also await a payment card if enabled. To do this, visit the subscription’s billing section at the bottom right. You’ll see if there’s a card to link now, or you can set the subscription to auto-link the card by pressing the edit icon beside the current payment method.


Email customers to add a card

When you are creating a subscription without a payment method, you can opt to send customers a request to add a payment card.

They'll receive an email asking them to add a card. They can log into their online account or set this up to add their payment card.


Sending an email request after a subscription is created

When the subscription is created, you can also send this email. Visit their customer profile in Stora and select Send Email Now.


Add a card using the Stora backoffice

Use the Add Payment Card button to add a card to the customer's subscription. Once added, this will become the payment method for the subscription going forward.
