Within Street you can create developments to more efficiently manage groups of properties such as blocks of flats or new homes developments.

To get started, head to the Properties table from the left side panel and click on Developments on the right.

Here you'll find a table of any existing developments you've created which you can click on to see more details and options for editing.

To add a new development, click on the Add Development button at the top right.

Firstly you'll need to add the contact details for the developer.

If the development is owned by a company then use the 'developer company' field to search for the company in your account. If they do not exist yet, click the 'create company' option.

With the company selected you can search for the main general and finance contacts for that company and as with the company, if they don't exist yet you can click 'create person' to create them.

However, you can only select from people associated with that company so if your search returns zero results but you know the person exists, you will need to ensure they are on the company by going to the company page and adding them.

If the development is owned by an individual you should skip the company field and just enter the general and/or finance contact.

With the contact details added, next you need to add the location and development details.

Start by either creating a manual address (useful if this will be a new homes development) or searching an existing address.

Next give the development a name and a description, both of which are for internal information and not shared with clients.

Finally you can specify which portals the development will be publishing to.

The portals selected here will determine which portals properties within this development will publish to and cannot be changed on an individual property basis, unless you have a role with the permission 'Allow this user to update property portals for properties that are part of a development' enabled. To add a property to a development, click the 'add' button at the top right and select 'properties'. From here, the method for adding properties to a development will depend on the type of development it is.

For example, if it is for a block of flats that are all different shapes and sizes, the best option will be to add each property individually by clicking the 'add manually' option and searching for the property or, if it doesn't already exist in your account, creating it from scratch.

However, if the development is for a new homes development that has multiple plots of the same shape and size, the best option will be to create property styles and add properties from there. For more information, see our New Homes Developments help article.
