Areas in Street
The Areas settings allow you to set up specific geographical locations that your agency covers. When creating areas you can use postcodes or create your own custom areas, for example 'Primary school catchment area' or '5 minute walk from the train station'.
These areas can be selected as areas of interest when registering an applicant and properties that sit within those areas will be included property matches.
This article focuses on creating and managing your areas, which is done at company level. For information on choosing which areas to apply to a branch, see our Areas (Branch) help article.
Creating an Area
To get started, head to Settings (on the left side panel, at the bottom) > Company Settings > Areas.
Note - You will need to be a Company Admin to access the Areas settings at company level.
Here you will see a list of existing areas you have created highlighting how many properties and applicants sit within those areas.
To create a new area, click the 'add area' button at the top right.
Firstly you need to give your area a name. If you're using postcodes then entering the postcode here would make sense however the name can be anything you like, so if you're using custom areas like '5 minute walk from the train station' you can enter this here.
Next you can choose your sales and/or lettings valuers for that area. You can assign multiple valuers to a single area and each valuer assigned will be available to be booked into when clients use online valuation booking, if you have this enabled. When ready, click save and continue to progress to the plot area step.
On the plot area step you will see any existing areas you have in your account, highlighted in a grey outline. From here you can either enter a postcode and load the boundaries from that or manually draw by clicking on the map to start plotting your area and bring your final point to rest at your first point then click ’Save Area’ once complete.
Once you have added the boundaries or drawn them on click 'Save area'. Your area is now setup and can be selected in your branch area settings.
Editing or Deleting an Area
From the company areas page you can edit any existing areas by either clicking the update plot text to edit the plot for that area or click the pencil icon to edit the name and valuers.
You can edit an existing area from within areas in company settings by clicking 'update plot'. This will allow you to re-enter postcode or re-draw the area. You can also click the pencil icon to edit the area name and valuers or click the bin icon to delete an area.
To delete an area entirely, click the bin icon on the right hand side.
Migrating to Street with Bridge?
If you are using Bridge to Migrate to Street it is important to have equivalent areas in Street as your current system.
During Bridge you will map your areas like for like, this is so your applicants requirements are correct when they are imported to Street.
As an example, if you currently have an area labelled 'Manchester City Centre' in your current system, you will need a 'Manchester City Centre' area adding to Street.
Please note, if you see an error stating 'This property does not belong to an area' it may be outside of your boundary.
Street is constantly being updated. This can mean that some of these articles become slightly out of date. If you spot something that looks a little bit different to your Street account, please let us know on the live chat so we can get it updated!
