SubcontractorHub offers flexible, rule-based commission setup options to ensure accurate, role-specific incentives across solar and battery projects. This guide walks you through everything, from assigning a commission to handling complex scenarios like recalculations, setter/closer splits, and formula-based logic tied to real project values.
Follow the steps to know how to set up commissions
Step 1: From the main menu, go to "Manage Commission" and select “Commissions”.
Step 2: Create a new commission by clicking “New Commission”.
Step 3: Select a Commission Basis: You’ll be prompted to choose how commissions will be assigned. You can select from the following options:
User-Based Commission: Assign commissions to specific individuals (e.g., sales representatives).
Role/Profile-Based Commission: Assign commissions based on the user’s role or profile (e.g., Installer, Sales Admin).
Setter/Closer-Based Commission: Best suited for distributed sales models where one person sets the lead and another closes it. The setter's commission is automatically deducted from the closer’s share, which starts at 100%.
Note: If you are using Setter/Closer commissions, those will always be applied first. If a user has both a role-based and a user-specific commission, only the user-specific commission will be used.
Step 4: Define the parameters of your commission:
User/Role/Closer/Setter: Select the entity the commission applies to.
Commission For: Select which portion of the proposal this commission applies to (e.g., base system cost, adder cost, or total system price).
Job Type: Choose from available options like Solar, Solar + Battery, etc.
Commission Type: Choose between PERCENT or FLAT:
PERCENT – Applies a % value to a selected cost field.
FLAT – Applies a fixed dollar value per job.
Commission Value: Enter the percentage or flat value.
Status: Set as Enabled or Disabled.
Example:
Let’s say you want to set up a fixed percentage commission for a user- Jacob Addams, without using a formula.
Commission Basis: User-specific
Job Type: Solar
Commission Type: PERCENT
Applied On: Adders Cost
Commission Value: 10
This means Jacob will earn 10% of the Adders Cost as commission for each applicable Solar job. This setup is simple and does not require any custom formulas, just a direct percentage input.
Step 5: For advanced calculations, check the “Use Formula” box.
This opens the manual formula builder: Type “@” to bring up a list of available system variables (e.g., @base_system_cost, @net_system_cost).
To add more variables to your formula, use standard operators like (+, –, ) and type “@” again to insert additional variables from the dropdown.
Your Formula Equation for the commission will be displayed as shown below
Step 6: Click “Create Commission” to save.
Note: Once a commission is created, it will appear in the Commissions List, where it can be edited, enabled/disabled, or deleted if no longer needed. This helps you maintain a clean, organized, and up-to-date commission structure.
