Why It Matters
Proposals rarely stay static. Pricing changes, customer requirements shift, or finance terms get finalized after the initial draft. Being able to quickly locate and edit an existing proposal (instead of recreating it from scratch) saves time, reduces errors, and keeps your customer records accurate.
What You Need
Access to the Customers object from the left-hand menu
Permission to view and edit proposals tied to a customer record
The specific customer's account already created, with at least one proposal on file
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Go to the "Customers" object from the left-hand side menu.
Step 2: Besides every customer, you will see a proposals button. For your respective customer, click on the "Proposals" button.
Step 3: On the customer's Proposals page, you will see all the proposals you have created. Under every proposal you shall see the "View Proposal" and "View Detail" buttons. To edit the proposal, click on the "View Detail" button and all details of the proposal shall be visible.
Note: If you have a finalized quote, then it will show up on the details card under “Finance Choice”.
The same will be visible as a banner at the top of the proposal.
Pro Tip
Before editing, use "View Proposal" first to quickly preview the proposal as-is. This helps you confirm you're editing the correct version if a customer has multiple proposals on file. Also, keep an eye on the Finance Choice banner at the top of the proposal: if it's already showing, treat that proposal as finalized and double-check with your finance or sales lead before making changes.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Likely Cause | Fix |
Can't find "View Detail" button | Page didn't fully load, or proposal list is filtered/collapsed | Refresh the page or check if a filter is hiding the proposal |
Finance Choice banner not showing despite a finalized quote | Quote finalization didn't sync properly | Re-check the quote status in the Finance section, or refresh the proposal detail page |
Edits aren't saving | Missing edit permissions or session timeout | Confirm your user role has edit rights; try logging out and back in |
Wrong proposal opened | Multiple proposals exist with similar names/dates | Use "View Proposal" to preview before clicking "View Detail" to edit |
Real-Life Case
Scenario: A sales rep sent a proposal to a customer last week, but the customer just requested a discount adjustment before signing.
The rep:
Goes to Customers → finds the customer → clicks Proposals
Sees the relevant proposal in the list and clicks View Detail
Updates the pricing/discount fields and saves
