Master the roofing design tool by following a clear process—from aligning the roof and drawing facets to adding edge types, gutter lines, and editing design elements. This guide walks you through using interactive features like zoom, move, and visibility toggles to fine-tune your layout. Once done, you can save or continue directly into your proposal workflow with a completed and editable design.
Follow the steps below to design a roof using SubcontractorHub’s design tool.
Step 1: Align the roof with the design tool’s crosshairs and click “Set House”.
Step 2: Use the design tool to draw each facet of the roof. The details of each facet (square footage and pitch) will appear below the design.
Step 3: Open the “Edge Tools” dropdown to select a different line style for eaves, ridges, hips, etc.
Step 4: Hover over the edge you would like to replace. A blue dot will appear indicating the selected line.
Step 5: Click to apply the edges as per your requirements.
Step 6: Use the “Edit Facet” button to update facets.
Step 7: Click “Ok” to continue.
Step 8: Drag facet lines to edit the facet, and click to place them.
Step 9: Use the “Gutter Line” button to add gutter lines to the design.
Step 10: Draw gutter lines where necessary, then press Shift + W to complete the gutter line.
Step 11: Use the “Delete” and “Reset” buttons to delete a design element or to reset the design.
Step 12: Use the “Move” button to move the design image.
Step 13: Use the “+” and “-” icons to zoom in and out of the design.
Step 14: Unchecking the “Facets” box removes facets from the design.
Step 15: Unchecking the “Gutters” box removes gutter lines from the design.
Step 16: Unchecking the “Pitches” box removes pitch values from the design.
Step 17: Click “Save” to save the design, and “Save & Continue” to save the design and move onto the next section of the proposal.
Step 18: Your design is now complete. To update the design, click “Edit Design” below the design image.
