Why This Plan Matters

Try Before You Buy (TBYB) plans let customers experience your product first—without upfront payment—then pay later only if they decide to keep it.
This model builds trust, removes purchase hesitation, and can naturally lead to longer-term customer relationships.

How to set up this plan for your store?

  1. Access Subscription Plans from the Subscribfy dashboard

    • Log in to your Subscribfy dashboard and navigate to Subscription Plans.

    • Here you can view all your existing plans or start a new one.

    • Click “Create Subscription Plan” to begin, then select Try before you buy (standard recurring delivery).

    • You can always edit or add more plan types later.

  2. Product

    • Choose the product(s) you want to include.

      1. Decide on purchase options:

        • One-time and Try before you buy plan→ customers can choose between buying with payment up front or purchasing for free with a trial.

        • Only with Try before you buy plan → the product is exclusively sold as a try before you buy plan.

  3. Convert to recurring subscription after trial period

    • Enable this if you want the customers who finalize the trial period without returning will continue to receive the product as a subscription

    • Example: First, customers get a trial-size version, and after their trial completes successfuly ship the full-size product recursively.

  4. Set order schedule

    • Configure when and how often subscriptions are renewed:

      • Selling Plan Name → label the plan clearly (e.g., “Try before you buy”, "Try before you subscribe").

      • Trial Period → define the number of days until the customer is charged for the free product.


  5. Once configured, click Save to apply your changes. Once saved, your product pages will automatically update with subscription options.


What Happens Next?

After activation:

  • Customers will see a “Try Before You Buy” option on eligible product pages.

  • They can check out with a $0 trial and receive the product immediately.

  • If they don’t return it within the trial window, the order is charged automatically.

  • If conversion is enabled, they’ll transition into a Regular Subscription with recurring deliveries.

  • You can manage all trials and active subscriptions from your Subscribfy Dashboard — including charges, returns, and subscription conversions.

Try Before You Buy doesn’t just test products — it opens a new way to convert hesitant shoppers into loyal, recurring customers.

Q: How long can I set the trial period for?
A: You can choose any duration, typically between 7 and 14 days, depending on your return and fulfillment policies.

Q: What happens if the customer returns the product?
A: If returned within the trial period, no charge occurs when the trial end.

Q: Will trial orders include shipping charges?
A: If the order contains only try before you buy products the shipment of them will also be free upfront and paid when the trial ends.

Q: Can I convert a Try Before You Buy plan into a subscription automatically?
A: Yes. You can enable “Convert to Subscription” to enroll customers in a recurring plan after the initial charge.

Q: Can I edit a Try Before You Buy plan after launch?
A: Yes. You can update the trial period and conversion settings anytime in your Subscribfy dashboard.
