Overview of Drafting Options
From the Drafting tab in any case, you'll see five options across the top:
Option | What It Does | What You Need |
Use a Blueprint | Draft from a saved template in your firm's library | A saved Blueprint — created by you or your CSM |
Draft from Example | Draft any document type in your firm's style | Two .docx example documents of the same type |
Create an Instant Demand | Generate an AI demand letter using case data | No examples needed — confirm details in the guided flow |
Build Responses | Respond to interrogatories and discovery requests from opposing counsel | The opposing counsel's question document (.docx or PDF) |
Exhibit Builder (New) | Create and manage exhibit packages | Create from scratch or use a saved template |
All previously generated documents — including AI-drafted documents and Verified Demand Letters produced by Supio — are listed in the Drafting tab document list.
Draft from Example
Draft from Example teaches Supio your firm's writing style by analyzing two documents you've already created. It uses those examples to draft a new document for the current case.
How it works
Supio displays a simple three-step summary when you open this option:
Upload 2 documents of the same type from your past cases (e.g. two demand letters)
Supio learns your firm's style
Supio drafts a new document that matches your firm's style
File requirements: Both example documents must be .docx format — PDFs are not accepted. Shorter documents perform best.
Steps
Go to the Drafting tab and click Draft from Example.
Click Select Documents and upload two .docx examples of the same document type.
Select the case data sources to use as drafting context — Files, Timeline, or Knowledge tabs.
Name the document and click Draft Document.
Supported document types
Demand letters
Complaints
Mediation briefs
Letters of representation
Interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission
Blueprints
Blueprints are saved drafting templates. Create one once and reuse it across any case — no need to re-upload example documents each time.
How to use an existing Blueprint
Click Use a Blueprint from the Drafting tab.
The Blueprint Library opens showing all saved Blueprints, tagged as By Firm (created by your firm) or By Supio (created by your CSM). You can search or filter by Starred.
Select a Blueprint. Supio shows you the reference files it was built from.
Select your case data sources — Files, Timeline, or Knowledge — then click Proceed.
How to create a new Blueprint
Blueprint creation is available at the bottom of the Blueprint Library:
Click Use a Blueprint to open the Blueprint Library.
Scroll to the bottom and click + Create New Blueprint — 'Create a reusable blueprint in your firm's style you can use with any case'.
Upload two .docx example documents of the same type and follow the prompts.
Your Supio Customer Success Manager can also create Blueprints on your behalf. Reach out if you'd like help building firm-wide templates.
Name your Blueprints by case type — for example, 'MVA Demand', 'Nursing Home – Pressure Wound', 'Slip and Fall Complaint' — so anyone on your team can quickly find the right one.
Create an Instant Demand
The Instant Demand generates an AI demand letter using your case data — no example documents required. A guided 3-step flow walks you through it.
Step 1 — Choose demand type and damages source
Select the demand letter type: Liability, UM (Uninsured Motorist), or UIM (Underinsured Motorist)
Select your economic damages source: Instant Ledger oor Billing (pulls from your case billing files)
Toggle Include exhibit package on or off
Click Next
Step 2 — Review & Update Case Details
Supio pre-fills what it finds from your case. Review each section and fill in any gaps — complete information produces a stronger document.
Economic Damages
Insurance
Parties
Incident
Click Next when ready.
Step 3 — Name and generate
Update the file name if needed (pre-filled as 'Demand Letter')
Click Draft Document
Instant Demand vs. Verified Demand Letter: The Instant Demand is a self-service AI-generated document — good for a quick-turnaround starting point. For a fully human-reviewed demand produced by Supio's team, see the Verified Demand Letter section below. |
Build Responses
This feature lets your team respond to interrogatories and discovery requests from opposing counsel. Upload the opposing counsel's question document, and Supio automatically extracts the questions, generates sourced responses from your case files, and produces a formatted document ready for review.
How it works
The tool follows a four-step flow:
Import the source document — Upload the opposing counsel's document containing the questions (interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, etc.). You can either Upload File (.docx or PDF) or click Paste Content to paste the document text directly. DOCX files process faster than PDFs.
Extract questions — Click Extract. Supio reads the document and automatically identifies and pulls out each individual question, preserving the original numbering and formatting.
Review and edit — Before generating any responses, review the extracted questions. You can edit questions, remove any that don't apply, or add additional questions you want Supio to address. This step gives you full control before the AI generates anything.
Generate and publish — Click to generate responses. Supio drafts an answer to each question using your case files, and every answer includes source citations so you can verify exactly where the information came from. Once you've reviewed the responses, preview the formatted document and publish it to the Drafting tab.
Once published, the response document appears in the Drafting tab as a standard Supio document — available for in-document chat, the prompt library, and future reference.
Tips for best results: Include the full text of each request. Maintain original numbering and formatting. Include any instructions provided in the original document. |
Note: Response Builder does not replicate your firm's formatting style for answers. Use the Selective Redraft tool to polish the output after generation. |
Exhibit Builder
The Exhibit Builder lets you create and manage exhibit packages directly from your case.
Getting started
Click Exhibit Builder from the Drafting tab.
Choose how to start:
Click Create New to build a package from scratch
Click Create from Template to apply a saved firm template
Inside the builder, click Generate from Timeline to auto-populate your exhibit with documents from the case timeline. You can also pair the package with an existing demand letter. You also have the option to generate from scratch.
What you can do inside the builder
Browse all available case files in the left panel — search by facility or provider, sort by date of service or file name
Drag and drop files into sections
Select specific pages from a document, or include the entire document — including pages not referenced in the timeline
Add new sections (e.g., Photos), rename existing ones, or duplicate sections
Auto-generate section organization — Supio groups documents by provider and sorts by date of service when you generate from timeline
Export options
Before exporting, you can configure:
Page stamping — add a configurable prefix and choose the placement
Cover page — with hyperlinked section navigation for easy reference
Include or exclude page stamps entirely
All changes save automatically, so you can return and edit your exhibit package at any time.
Verified Demand Letter
A Verified Demand Letter is a human-reviewed demand produced by Supio's operations team — not AI-generated. Supio's team reviews your case records, chronology, and billing to produce a polished, attorney-ready demand letter.
How to request a Verified Demand Letter
The Verified Demand Letter is requested at the time of case setup:
When creating or updating a case, click Update Case.
In the case intake form, select Yes on the human-reviewed medical chronology option.
Once you select Yes on the chronology, the option to request a Verified Demand Letter becomes available — select it and choose your demand type.
Submit the case. Supio will begin processing once all records are uploaded.
Demand types available: Liability, UM (Uninsured Motorist), or UIM (Underinsured Motorist). You can update your demand type at any time by going to Update Case and scrolling to the demand intake form. |
Where to find your Verified Demand Letter
Once complete, your Verified Demand Letter appears in the Drafting tab document list alongside any other drafted documents. It will show as Pending while being processed.
Editing Your Drafted Document
After any document from the drafting tab is generated, you can click on them to go directly into the editor. Three tools are available to help you refine it:
Tool | What It Does |
In-document chat | Ask questions about the case or request changes without leaving the editor — the full document is already loaded as context. |
Selective redraft | Highlight any section and redraft just that part. Choose tone presets (formal, persuasive) and formatting options (bulleted list, numbered list, expand to paragraph). |
Version history | All changes save automatically. Navigate back to any previous version at any time. |
FAQs
What's the difference between an Instant Demand and a Verified Demand Letter?
The Instant Demand is self-service and AI-generated — useful as a quick starting point. The Verified Demand Letter is human reviewed by Supio's team and requested through the case intake form. Both appear in the Drafting tab once complete.
My example files are PDFs — can I use them for Draft from Example?
No — .docx format is required. Convert your PDFs to Word format first using Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or a PDF editor.
How do I request a demand update after adding new records?
Email support@supio.com. For urgent requests, contact your Customer Success Manager to expedite. Please ensure all new files are uploaded before requesting an update!
Can I change the demand type after the case is created?
Yes — go to Update Case and scroll down to the demand intake form to update your demand type selection.
Response Builder generated formatting I don't like — can I fix it?
Yes — use the Selective Redraft tool to highlight any section and redraft it with your preferred tone and formatting. Response Builder doesn't pick up your firm's formatting style automatically, so the redraft tool is the best way to polish the output.
