Teachers understand the value of Family engagement, but with their limited time and workload, they may feel unable to proactively reach out to families. The Family Check-Ins feature helps by providing seasonal prompts aligned with the school calendar, making it easier for teachers to connect with families.
With Family Check-Ins, teachers receive suggested message topics—such as back-to-school tips, attendance importance, and motivation strategies. They can quickly personalize these messages or use AI tools to generate new ones. This feature fosters meaningful two-way conversations, strengthening teacher-Family relationships effortlessly.
When will Family Check-In prompts be available?
The Family Check-Ins feature will be available for back-to-school 2025 as part of TalkingPoints Foundations.
Who will have access to Family Check-Ins?
Family Check-Ins will be available in the TalkingPoints for Teachers web product.
Where can partners access and utilize Family Check-Ins?
Users of the TalkingPoints for Teachers web product will be able to open the Family Check-Ins page by clicking its purple tile on the teacher home page (see images below).
How does it work?
From the Family Check-Ins tile on the right side of the teacher home page, select “Explore” to open the “Family Check-Ins” page
The Family Check-Ins page has four tabs at the top of the page for different seasons within the school year (e.g, Back to School, Fall, etc.). Each tab includes six ideas for how to engage families at that time of the year.
Note: The Family Check-Ins page will automatically open to a different tab at different times of the year, but teachers can manually navigate through the tabs at any time.
By selecting ‘Try it’ on one of the engagement ideas, an initial AI-generated draft message will appear based on that topic and embedded keywords and prompts. After generating a message, teachers can choose to:
Retry: This will generate a new message based on the same prompt.
Use message: This will open the message in the compose modal, where the teacher can make final edits and select recipients for the message.
Personalize: This option allows teachers to further customize and personalize their family check-in message. They can edit the message goal, which is used as the prompt for the AI message generation, and provide additional personalization information. Once the inputs are updated, selecting the “generate message” button creates a new message draft for them to edit or use as-is.
