Helping families stay connected to their student’s classroom experience is key to supporting learning. While families want to help, they may not always know how. The new Academic Improvement Plus package makes it easier than ever for families to reinforce classroom learning at home.
With Home Activity Suggestions, the initial feature of the Academic Improvement Plus package for back-to-school 2025, teachers can quickly share research-based activities that align with what students are learning in class. These activities are designed for families to easily use at home with their students, making learning more accessible and engaging beyond the classroom.
Teachers don’t need to spend extra time creating these activities from scratch. Instead, they can simply select a grade level and topic, and TalkingPoints will generate an easy-to-use home activity that supports student learning.
This is a powerful way to extend learning at home, engage families, and set students up for success.

How does the Home activity suggestions feature work?
Teachers will access the feature from the home page via the Reinforce academics at home bluetile on the right side.
After clicking the ‘Get Started’ button, the user will be taken to the Home activity suggestions page.
On this page the teacher will enter a few simple pieces of information:
Grade level: select the intended grade level(s) for the activity from the drop down menu (available for grades K-8)
Topic: enter any details in this free-text field to describe the topic you are teaching or what you want the at-home activity to focus on
Additional criteria: use this as an open text field to include any additional information or requirements such as the aligned standard, the type of activity and more
In general, the more information and specifics provided, the better the suggested activity will be.
When the inputs have been entered, select the ‘Generate Activity’ button.
This will return an AI-generated activity suggestion message.
From here, the user has three options:
Back: goes back to the previous screen, to update/refine the inputs
Generate new idea: use AI to generate a new activity idea and message based on the same inputs
Select recipients: this opens the message compose modal, using the suggested message.
Once a user clicks ‘Select Recipients,’ the message content will open and the user will have the choice of sending the activity as an announcement (for a class or group), or as a direct message (for an individual student or a select group of students). The user can also add attachments, edit or modify the text, if applicable, and send/schedule the message.
