School staff—such as principals, nurses, and counselors—often manage many responsibilities and may not have full visibility into all school communications. The Your Inboxes feature helps by providing each staff member with access to three dedicated inboxes—in one place—based on their role and permissions: a School Inbox for messages sent on behalf of the school, a Personal Inbox for messages you’ve sent, and an Attendance Inbox for attendance-specific communications (if the school/district has purchased the Attendance Improvement Plus package).
Each inbox offers a consistent experience, with organized views for incoming, sent, and scheduled messages. Additionally, all school-level users will now receive important announcements from school or district administrators in a dedicated “From other admins tab” within Your Inboxes.
When will Your Inboxes be available?
The new Your Inboxes functionality will be available for back-to-school 2025.
Who will have access to Your Inboxes?
This is available by default for School Product users. All School Product users will have access to the admin announcements inbox (called “From other admins”).
The TalkingPoints base role “School Admin” will automatically include access to personal inbox, school inbox, and the attendance inbox (if purchased). These permissions can also be granted to any school-level custom role.
District product users can grant this permission using custom roles for appropriate staff (eg. attendance clerks, nurses, guidance counselors, etc). Creating custom roles is a feature specific to the District product.
Which specific additional inboxes a user has available to them will be based on their permissions and what add-on packages they’re using (e.g., Attendance Improvement Plus). See the additional inbox capabilities for Attendance Inbox and Personal Messages.
Where can partners access Your Inboxes?
Your Inboxes will be available in the web-based School Product as a new section in the left navigation:
How does it work?
All School-level users have access to Your Inboxes including the “From other admin" tab to see school and district admin announcements. Seeing other inboxes within “Your Inboxes” is based on the user’s permissions. This enables those who have access to any of these three inboxes: School, Personal, and Attendance (if using) - to find a consistent user experience.
Within Your Inboxes, each tab representing an inbox with have these “Views”:
A new “View” section for each inbox “type” allows users to see:
“Inbox” view - displays all incoming messages as message threads in a conversation view, which contains all messages from that contact
“Sent” view - displays all messages that have been sent from this inbox
“Scheduled” view - displays all messages scheduled to be sent from this inbox
Note: The number in parenthesis next to “Scheduled” reflects the number of messages that have been scheduled for this inbox.
The Sent and Scheduled views contain additional filters that allow users to search for specific classes, individual or groups of students, and within school-year time frames.
What if I have access to multiple inboxes? How does that affect sending a message?
Users with permission to send messages from multiple inboxes can choose the sender account using the “From” field in the compose modal. Those without this permission will not have the option to select a different account. Messages sent on behalf of the school are delivered from the shared school inbox, and any replies will be visible to all school administrators.
Where can I see all the messages sent by my school?
Go to All Messages in the left-hand navigation. This section was previously called "All" and found under "Messages." All Messages and now includes:
Scheduled and Flagged tabs (same as before)
A new Time Frame filter to select a school year
Filters to view any message sent by any user at your school
In contrast, Your Inboxes and the respective School Inbox only shows messages sent from that specific school inbox. The functionality of All Messages has not changed otherwise.
