For: District Admins
Platform: District Product (Web Only)

What Are District Groups?

District Groups allow you to create and manage groups of students across schools—and assign staff to message and support those students directly from the Teacher Product.

This feature is great for:

  • Counselors and interventionists supporting students across schools

  • Specialized staff who need access to specific student groups

  • Coaches who work with students from different schools within your district

  • Flexible grouping outside of standard class rosters

What Staff Can See and Do

When a staff member is added to a District Group, they can do the following:

  • Access and message students in the group from their Teacher Product

  • See the group in their Classes & Groups section, labeled with the specific district name

  • Only message students they currently have access to (via group/class)

⚠️ Staff must have a teacher-level role to be assigned to a district group. This ensures access from the Teacher experience.

🛠 District Admins Can Complete the Following Actions

1. Assign Staff to a District Group

  1. Go to a group’s Detail View

  2. Open the Staff tab

  3. Click Add Staff

  4. Use the searchable picker to select staff from your district

    • Only staff with teacher-level roles will appear

✅ Once added, staff can access and message any student in the group through their Teacher Product.

📌 If a staff member is later removed from the group, they lose access to the students tied to that group.

2. Assign Students to a District Group

  1. In the group’s Detail View, click Add Students

  2. Choose:

    • Add manually by searching for individual students

    • Upload a .csv of SIS student IDs

CSV Requirements:

  • File must include a column labeled “sisId”

  • First/last name columns are optional

  • Must use valid SIS IDs

📁 When uploading, you can:

  • Replace the full student list (override mode)

  • Append to the existing list (skip duplicates, add new)

3. Remove Staff from a District Group

  • Go to the Staff tab

  • Click the 3-dot menu next to the staff member

  • Select Remove

❌ Once removed, the staff member loses access to the group and its students.

🔒 If a staff member has no other active assignments to a student (class or group), the student will also disappear from their view in Teacher Product.

4. Delete a District Group

  • Go to the group’s Detail View

  • Click the 3-dot menu

  • Select Delete Group

🧼 Deleting the group:

  • Removes all staff and student access

  • Automatically updates affected staff’s access to those students
