What Are District Groups?

District Groups let you connect with students and families from across your district—even if they’re not enrolled in your classes or school.

If you’ve been assigned to a District Group by your district administrator, you’ll see it in your Classes & Groups list. When you're added to a District Group, you can message those students and families just like you would with any other class or group.

Why District Groups Matter

Sometimes, your work goes beyond just one class or school. District Groups support:

  • Interventionists, counselors, and support staff working across schools

  • Centralized programs or services that include students from multiple schools

  • Easy communication with assigned students and families—no extra setup required

🧭 Where to Find District Groups

In Your Teacher Experience:

  1. Go to your Classes & Groups tab

  2. Scroll to the bottom to find the District section

  3. Click on a District Group to open it

    • You’ll see the full student roster

    • You’ll be able to message each student/family or the group as a whole

📌 District Groups are labeled clearly and live separately from your school-based classes and groups.

✅ What You Can Do with a District Group

You can use a District Group just like any other class or group you’re assigned to:

  • 💬 Direct message any student or family contact in the group

  • 📣 Send announcements to the full group

  • 👥 Copy individual students into your own custom teacher group

  • Favorite, unfavorite, hide, or unhide the group from your view

⚠️ If you lose all active assignments to a student (from classes or groups), they will be automatically removed from your teacher view—even if they were part of a District Group.

🚫 What You Cannot Do with a District Group

District Groups are managed by your district administrator. That means you won’t be able to make changes to the group itself.

You cannot:

  • 🚪 Leave the group

  • 🗂️ Archive the group

  • 📝 Edit the group name or roster

  • ➕ Add or remove students or staff from the group

✅ This is the same behavior as school-created groups—you can view and message, but not modify.
