For: District Admins + School Admins with the Attendance Improvement Plus package
Platform: Web
The Attendance Inbox is a shared space for messaging families about attendance—separate from personal or school-wide messages. It keeps all attendance communication in one place for faster follow-up and clearer records.
✋ What You Need First
✅ Your school must have the Attendance package enabled
✅ Your role must have permission to send and receive attendance messages
❌ Not available on mobile (web only)
📥 Where to Find the Attendance Inbox
Go to the Messages module in your School product (SP)
Look for the “Attendance” tab in your inbox list
You’ll only see this tab if you have the right permission
If you have access to other shared inboxes (like School Admin), they’ll show up too
📌 How the Attendance Inbox Works
The inbox is shared across your school—just like the School Admin inbox
All users with permission can see and respond to attendance messages
Families receive attendance messages in a separate thread to keep communication clear
You can select “Attendance” as the sender signature when writing a new message
🔁 What’s Included (and What’s Not)
Appears in Inbox | Doesn’t Appear |
✅ Incoming family replies about attendance | ❌ Messages sent from other inboxes |
✅ Outgoing automated absence messages |
|
✅ Manual messages sent from the Attendance inbox |
|
✅ Thread previews and full message access (if you have permission) |
|
💬 View and Reply to Messages
Click on a thread to preview it
Select “View full thread” to open the student’s conversation
Requires permission to view the full student roster
Use the "View messages from" filter (top of page) to toggle between inbox views if you have access to more than one
✉️ Sending a Message from ‘Attendance’
Anywhere you can message a family, you can message from the Attendance signature—if you have the right permission.
Where you can send from:
📨 Compose modal (new message)
💬 Individual student thread (chat box)
📊 Attendance module
Includes sending from an Attendance Message Series or a Targeted Attendance Message
How it works:
If Attendance is the only inbox you can message from, it will be pre-selected
If you have access to multiple inboxes (like School Admin), you’ll see a “From” field with signature options
Just pick Attendance before sending, and the message will go to the family’s attendance-specific thread
📌 This keeps attendance messages organized and ensures replies are routed to the right inbox
🧠 Why It Matters
Using the Attendance Inbox keeps your team’s messages about student absences in one place. It’s easier to:
Stay organized
Avoid message mix-ups
Make sure families get quick, consistent follow-ups
