For: District Admins & School Admins
Platform: Web
Overview
Admins can create an embed or RSS link that lets TalkingPoints announcements—such as emergency alerts or broadcast messages—appear automatically on a district or school website. After creating an embed, your team must paste the generated link or code into your website’s CMS.
TalkingPoints provides the content feed, but your website controls how and where it appears.
Accessing the Website Embed Section 🌐
You’ll see the Website Embed section in Settings if:
Your organization uses emergency or broadcast messaging
Your role includes access to communication configuration tools
Admins with this access can:
Create new website embeds
Choose between RSS and iFrame formats
Customize iFrame appearance
Manage or deactivate embeds later
If you don’t see this section, your role may not include access to website posting.
Before You Begin: Important Notes ⚠️
Important:
TalkingPoints only generates the RSS link or iFrame code. Your team must add it to your website for messages to appear.
TalkingPoints cannot detect:
Whether the embed was added
Whether it’s displayed correctly
How many places it’s installed
The same link can be used in multiple places, or not used at all, depending on your website setup.
How to Create a Website Embed 🔧
1. Website Section
Log in to TalkingPoints on the web.
Go to Settings → Communication → Website Embed.
Click Create Website Embed to begin.
2. Choose Your Output Type
You’ll select how your website will receive the announcement content.
Option 1: RSS Feed
Generates a feed URL that your website can subscribe to.
Works with most customer management service (CMS) systems that support RSS (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
Announcements posted to “Website” will automatically appear in the feed.
Example use:
Add the RSS URL to a news widget so new posts appear automatically.
This link can be incorporated into your website through your CMS so that announcements become available to the feed.
Option 2: iFrame Embed
If you choose iFrame, you can customize how the embedded content will appear on your website.
iFrame Customization Options
You can adjust:
Background color
Font color
Font size
The Sample View updates instantly so you can see how your embed will look.
Color pairs follow TalkingPoints’ announcement styles—for example:
Black background → White text
Light background → Dark text
📝 Note: The customization panel provides a very basic starting point. If your team knows HTML, you may further edit the code after it’s generated. This flexibility allows partners to match the embed to their site’s branding.
3. Generate the Output
Once your configuration is complete, click Next.
TalkingPoints will generate:
An RSS feed link, OR
A block of iFrame HTML code
This is the content your website team will insert into your site.
4. Add the Embed to Your Website
Use the provided link or code in your CMS.
Examples:
Add the RSS URL to a “feeds” or “news” block
Paste the iFrame HTML into a webpage, widget, or module
Install the embed on multiple pages if desired
Any announcement where Website is selected as a delivery method will appear wherever you have placed the embed.
Additional Configuration Options 🔁
Once you have created at least one embed, you gain additional controls:
Create Additional Embeds
You may create more than one embed if your district or school needs multiple placements or formats.
Turn Off All Embeds
This option:
Disables website posting as a delivery method
Prevents any new announcements from appearing via embed
Removes access to previously shared embed links
Stops already-published announcements from being visible on your website
This is useful if you are retiring website posting or migrating to a new website.
FAQs 💬

What if my website doesn’t support RSS?
Use the iFrame option instead. It works on nearly all modern websites.
Can I embed the code in more than one location?
Yes. The same link or code can be used in multiple places.
Does TalkingPoints track whether the embed is installed?
No. TalkingPoints cannot detect where or whether the embed is being used.
