Connect Social Media Accounts for Automated Posts

Learn how District and School Admins can connect Facebook or X accounts to TalkingPoints to publish emergency alerts and broadcast notifications directly to social media.

Updated today

For: District Admins & School Admins
Platform: Web

Overview

Admins can connect district or school social media accounts to TalkingPoints so automated messages — like emergency alerts or broadcast notifications — can be posted directly to Facebook or X (Twitter). Each level manages only its own accounts, keeping district and school communications separate and secure.

Accessing the Social Media Section 🌐

You’ll see the Social Media section in your Settings if your organization uses emergency or broadcast messaging and your admin role includes access to communication settings.

Admins with the appropriate access can:

  • View existing social media connections

  • Connect new Facebook or X (Twitter) accounts

  • Disconnect accounts at any time

If you don’t see this section, your role may not include access to manage social media posting. Contact your organization’s TalkingPoints administrator if you need this permission.

How Social Media Connections Work 🔄

District and School Admins can each post to accounts at their own level:

District Level

  • Posts will only go to district accounts

  • District admins cannot connect or post to school-level accounts

School Level

  • Posts stay within the school’s own channels

  • School admins cannot connect or post to district-level accounts

🎯 This ensures the right messages reach the right audiences.

FAQs 💬

Can I connect more than one account at the same level?

Does TalkingPoints store my social media credentials?

No. Only a secure authorization token is stored, allowing TalkingPoints to post on your behalf without saving your login information.

What happens if the token expires or access is revoked?

You’ll see an error or disconnected state. Simply click Connect again to reauthorize the account.
