How To Use BayEngage Segments On Email Campaigns?

Segmentation is a great way to personalize your emails, improve engagement, and increase overall conversions.

In this help article, we will cover:

  • How to use BayEngage’s advanced segmentation on email campaigns?

  • How to edit an existing segment?

I. Segmentation on email campaigns

To use a segment on email campaigns:

1. Select Campaigns option on the left hand-side menu. Under Email Campaigns, click on the option Create Email Campaign on the top right-hand corner.

2. Enter the Campaign name, choose a tag(s), and select a campaign type and click the option “Next”.

Tips💡:

You can create custom reports and segmentations using the tag you create.

3. Under the To section, click on Add recipients to select the segments and lists from the dropdown menu.

You can select any number of list and segment for a campaign.

II. How to edit an existing segment?

  1. Select the List and Segments option on the left-hand-side menu. Select the existing segment you want to Edit by clicking on the More Actions dropdown menu

2. After making necessary updates to the segment, click on update

III. Advanced segmentation use cases:

i) User field-based segmentation:

You can create segmentation based on customer fields BayEngage’s advanced segmentation.

Here is an example which will help you to understand segmentation better:

In accordance with the running event. A famous shoe retailer in Texas runs a promotion focusing a running event on their city. To understand their customer preferences, he uses a signup form to collect shoe preferences of their customers.

Note: The possibilities are endless to collect customs fields through BayEngage's Sign up form.

The stores aim to promote their running shoes collection. They have used advanced segmentation possibilities to target customers who prefered running shoes.

Now, let’s see how we can create segmentation with custom fields based on the previous example:

1. To create a segmentation based on user fields, Select List and Segments from the left hand side menu, then click on Create segment

2. Then give a specific name for your segment using the Rename option and click on Save

3. Click on the Include people base dropdown menu and select a user field that you want to create segmentation under User fields

4. You can furthermore customize the segmentation using the Matches and Values option

5. After giving the necessary inputs, click on Save and Continue to enable the segment

Note: Once the campaign is scheduled, the segment keeps updating, and new users keep coming in, so you don't need to worry about adding new customers to the sending list.

ii). Segmentation based on purchase behavior (Recurring Customers):

We offer pre-made segments that can be readily utilized by simply clicking the "Browse Ideas" option. With this, you will be able to send targeted campaigns to the recurring customers to keep them engaged with the brand

1. To create segmentation, please follow the above steps

2. After creating the segment, select Browse Ideas from the segmentation menu to use the pre-built segments, then select Recurring customers from the available segments

3. After creating the segment, you can customize it based on Purchase behavior and various other fields

4. You can use AND/OR Operators to create to create multiple segmentation options

5. You can use the campaign filter to select the campaign you like to create segmentation

6. After making the necessary changes, click on Update to make the segment live
