Attendance reports

What's in each of the seven attendance report tabs and how attendance rates are calculated.

Written by Abdullah Al-Hussein

Go to Reports → Attendance reports to see seven sub-tabs, each giving a different view of attendance data across your school.

If you don't see Reports or Attendance reports, ask your admin to check your permissions. The labels "students" and "teachers" may be renamed in your school.

The seven tabs

Student attendance — a row-by-row record of each lesson a student attended or missed, including the attendance status, whether the absence was excused, and any note left by staff.

Present count — a summary of how many times each student was marked present within the date range you select.

Absence count — a summary of how many times each student was marked absent.

Late count — a summary of how many times each student was marked late.

Pending attendance — lessons that have passed but where attendance has not yet been taken. Use this to spot classes where staff forgot to record attendance.

Student attendance hours — total hours attended per student, calculated from lesson durations. Late marks count alongside present marks for hour totals.

Teacher attendance — attendance records from the teacher's perspective, showing which lessons each teacher delivered.

Attendance statuses

There are three statuses: present, absent, and late. These are fixed — you cannot add custom statuses. The excused checkbox can be ticked alongside any status to flag the absence as excused; ticking it clears the present/absent/late status from the attendance rate calculation entirely.

How the attendance rate is calculated

Attendance rate = present ÷ (present + absent). Late marks and excused marks are excluded from the calculation entirely. A student marked late is not counted as either present or absent in the rate. A student marked excused is also excluded.

Filtering and exporting

Each tab can be filtered by date range, class, teacher, student, label, and other fields. Click Export to download an Excel file of the current view. If the export is very large (more than around 2,000 rows), Teach 'n Go will queue it and email you a download link instead of downloading immediately.
