Reporting in Surfboard

Many teams ask their surfers to report on their time, so they can record when they start or end their shifts or work overtime for payroll purposes.

As a surfer, you can easily report on your time from within Surfboard. Keep reading to find out how πŸ„

How do I report on my time?

Time reporting needs to be turned off for each surfer by their manager or Surfboard admin. If you think you should be reporting on your time and don't see a module in your account, ask your manager for help.

Clocking in and out of scheduled shifts

You can clock in and out of their scheduled shifts. Select a shift that's scheduled for today to clock in and mark yourself as working. You'll find the time reporting module above the working with you module on the left-hand side.

You can choose to timestamp your start time with the current time or enter a different time instead, for example, if you forgot to when you began working.

Once you're ready to finish up for the day you can finish your shift in the same way. When all the reports for the shift are completed, the shift times you reported will be listed where the check-in buttons were, and your report will automatically be sent and available to your manager.

Reporting overtime

If overtime any time is enabled, then you will also be able to start and report on overtime sessions in your Surfboard account. If this is enabled you'll see an ⏱️ Overtime block at the bottom of your shift list.

You can click the 'report overtime' button at the bottom of your shift list to start a new overtime session. You can choose to timestamp your start time with the current time or enter a different time instead, for example, if you forgot to do so when you began working.

Once you're ready to finish up for the day you can finish your session in the same way. When all the reports for the session are completed the reported times will be listed in the overtime block and available to be downloadable in a timesheet in the manager account.

πŸ’‘ You can only report on overtime on the same day.

What if I forget to clock-in to my shift?

If you forget to start your shift when you started working, don't worry, you can still clock in. Click the 'enter different time' toggle to manually enter a time.

However, you cannot start a shift that happened on a previous day, after you reported on a later shift on the same day (e.g. because you worked a split shift) or any shifts in the future.

What if I forget to clock-out of my shift?

If you forget to clock-out of your shift, you will be prompted to complete your report when you next log in to Surfboard.

You cannot have more than one open report at once. This means you cannot check-in to another shift or start overtime until you complete your previous reports.

If for some reason you are unable to complete your reports, let your manager know and they can manually adjust their records.

I'm a manager and a surfer, how do I report my time?

If you have both roles in Surfboard then you need to switch to your Surfer account to report on your time.

  • In the manager account, click on your avatar in the top right and select 'switch to surfer'

  • In the surfer account, you'll see the time reporting module above the 'working with you' section.

Can my manager see when I clocked in or out or reported overtime?

Yes, managers or admins to your company's Surfboard account can download timesheets which list all of your scheduled and reported hours.

Can I see when I clocked in or out or reported overtime?

You can click on any past shifts to view the time that you reported or navigate to previous weeks to view a summary of your overtime.
