Round Robins allow you to fairly rotate a shift or shifts between surfers. Surfers added to the Round Robin will take turns to work the shift(s) on top of their existing shift pattern.
For example, if you want your team to take turns working a weekend shift.
To set up a round robin:
Click on 'Add round robin' to start. Give your round robin a name.
You'll be asked to add which surfers you want to be included in the rotation. Add surfers in the order you want them to assigned to shifts. For example if you want Surfer A, B and C to work the first three weekends, add surfer A then B then C.
Select the shift or shifts you want to rotate and the days you want it to happen on, and how many surfers you need to assigned the shift each week.
You can also choose to give surfers a day by adding time in lieu. Surfboard will automatically schedule these days off for surfers when it's their turn on the rotation. You can choose for it to be scheduled on the same week or the following week.
You have the option to set rules on how the shifts should be allocated. By default Surfboard will assign different surfers on each shift but you can rules to further control how shifts should be allocated. For example, if you want the same surfer to work Early Saturday and Early Sunday shift, and someone else to work the Late Saturday and Late Sunday.
Finally, you'll be shown a preview of the rotation. If you don't like the order, you can hit shuffle to generate a new order.
Click Save, and your round robin will be ready to schedule.
💡 If you have an existing round robin order you would like to continue in Surfboard, you can tick the surfers in the order you want them to be scheduled when adding them to the round robin.
🌴 If you delete a round robin shift from the schedule, Surfboard will also remove their time off in lieu for you, automatically.
