You can easily manage who has admin access to your team's schedules within Surfboard.
There are two types of roles within Surfboard:
Manager: users have access to the manager account and their edit/view permissions can be defined per team.
Surfer: users can only see their own schedule and can preview the team schedule.
💡 It's possible to be a manager and a surfer and view both accounts if you are also scheduled within Surfboard.
How permissions are structured in Surfboard
Admin access is applied to each team. For each team, admins can have access to:
View - The team will be visible in the schedule but the user will not be able to make any changes to that team's schedule
View and edit - The team will be visible in the schedule and user can edit that team's schedule
By defining specific permissions for each manager, you can tailor access on a team by team basis and cater for many types of roles within your organisation.
How to give someone admin access
In the manager account, go to ⚙️ Settings > Manage Access
Click the 'new admin' button in the top right of the page
Add the person's name and email address
Next, define the access that this manager has per team. By default new managers will have edit and view access to all teams, but you can add or remove access as needed:
View - team will be visible in the schedule but manager will not be able to make any changes to their schedule
View and edit - team will be visible in the schedule and manager will be able to make changes to their schedule
Hit save
If this person is already a surfer in Surfboard, their account will update giving them manager access. (Note, they will usually need to log in and out again for their account to update.
If this person is new to Surfboard, click the 'invite' button next to their name in the table. They'll be sent an email to join your Surfboard account.
💡 A user needs to have accepted their surfer invitation before you can send them a manager invitation
