How to send a request to change or swap your shift

Updated over 3 months ago

If your plans change, you may find yourself wanting to change your shift. Either to attend an appointment, work around your uni timetable, or just to fit around your other commitments outside of work.

You can make requests to your manager directly in Surfboard. Here's how...

How do I request to change a shift?

  • In your surfer schedule, click or tap on the shift you want to change

  • Hit the 'request change' button in the top right

  • A modal will open where you can choose to change the date, start or end time of your shift

  • You will also need to include a note to tell your manager why you wanted to change your shift

  • Hit send request when you're done

  • Your request will immediately be sent to your manager's schedule for them to review

  • A clock icon (πŸ•’) will appear on the shift you've made a request on while the request is pending

  • If your request is accepted, the new shift will be published right away.

  • You'll receive an email notification to let you know the outcome of your request.

How do I swap a shift with another surfer?

  • Check who's working on different days using the 'working with you' panel in your schedule

  • Submit a request to change your shift to the same date and/or hours of that surfer's shift

  • Include a note to tell your manager who you intend to swap with

  • Send the request

  • Ask the other surfer to submit a request to change their shift to yours with a note as well.

How do I view or delete a request?

  • In your surfer schedule, click or tap on the shift you made a request for

  • Hit the 'view request' button in the top right

  • A modal will open to show you a summary of the request you made

  • If you want to delete a request, hit the delete button

  • The request will then be removed from your manager's schedule
