This article will walk you through how to create, manage, and utilize Scorecards within Thrive.
Global Templates vs. Project-Specific Evaluations
Scorecards allow you to standardize how your team evaluates talent. In Thrive, you can choose between creating Global Templates for recurring roles or Project-Specific Scorecards for unique, one-off searches.
1. Choosing Your Workflow
Before you begin, determine which type of scorecard fits your needs:
Feature | Global Template | Project-Specific Scorecard |
Created In | Admin Portal | Project Side Panel |
Best For | Standard roles (e.g., Head of Engineering, Director of Finance) | Niche or unique searches (e.g., CEO at a PE-backed healthcare company) |
Reusability | Available for all future projects | Stays within the specific project |
Permissions | Must have edit rights on projects enabled
Admins have this by default and can grant access to other user types | No special permissions needed |
2. Creating Global Templates (Admin)
Use this method for standardizing evaluation criteria across your entire company.
Enter the Thrive Admin Portal by clicking the Gear Icon (lower-left corner).
Select Scorecard Templates under the Customization menu.
Click the blue Plus (+) sign in the top right.
Define Criteria: Provide a name for your template. Adding evaluation categories (criteria) is now optional. If no criteria are added, the scorecard will function as a free-form notes template without star ratings.
Activation: Once saved, you must click the three dots (...) next to the template and select Activate. Only active templates can be added to projects via the "Strategy" tab.
3. Creating Project-Specific Scorecards (New!)
Use this "contextual" workflow to build a scorecard in seconds without leaving your active search.
Open your Project: Navigate to the specific search you are working on.
Access the Side Panel: Look for the Scorecard section in the project side panel.
Choose "Custom Scorecard": Select the option to create a custom scorecard for this project only.
Define Your Criteria: Add as many individual criteria and descriptions as you need.
Pro-Tip (The Blank Scorecard): If you prefer a free-form notes style without star ratings, you can save the scorecard with no criteria. This effectively turns the scorecard into a simplified interview notes form.
Save: The scorecard is immediately available for use within that project; no Admin activation is required.
4. Assessing a Candidate
Once your scorecard (Global or Project-Specific) is ready, follow these steps to evaluate a candidate:
Open the Candidate Profile within your project.
Select Scorecard from the top navigation bar (or use the Star Outline shortcut on the candidate card in the "Stages" view). A slide-out panel will open, allowing you to view the candidate's profile while filling out the assessment.
Select your name from the dropdown (or the name of the person you are assessing on behalf of).
Enter Ratings & Notes: Hover over the stars to set a rating and use the text box for detailed observations.
Visibility: You can now see metadata at the bottom, showing who created and who last edited the criteria to keep your team aligned.
The default share setting for scorecards is set to Everyone (Internal + Client). If you wish to restrict this, update the sharing settings via the split button before submitting.
Navigation Tips: At the bottom of any scorecard, you will find hyperlinked chips. These allow you to quickly navigate to the Associated Project, Person, or Company record directly from the scorecard view, saving you clicks when reviewing feedback.
5. Sharing a Scorecard
Scorecards are not automatically shared with all users. To share results with a teammate or client:
Locate the completed scorecard and select the three dots (...) on the right side.
Select Share.
Enter the name of the user in the Add People field.
Choose the access level: Editor (can make changes) or Viewer (read-only).
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Project-Specific scorecard get saved to my Global Admin list?
No. These stay within the project where they were created, keeping your Admin library clean. Can I still use my old templates?
Absolutely. You can still select your existing templates from the Admin portal or add them to a project via the Strategy tab.Who has permission to create scorecards?
Creating and editing global templates in the Admin section of Thrive TRM is a role-based permission that requires edit rights on projects to be enabled. Reach out to your Admin if you do not have the correct permissions. To create and edit project-specific scorecards, no special permissions are needed. You simply need to be invited to the project as an editor to generate a scorecard. If you can’t access a project, reach out to the project owner to request an invitation as an editor.
