Custom Fields

Structure your data according to what’s most important for you

Written by Kelsey Chan

Custom fields are a powerful feature that enables Admins to track specific data points their team cares about most that are not covered by Thrive’s default fields.

Note: At this time, custom fields are not filterable. This is a high-priority product area that our team is focusing on. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact our support team.

How to Create a Custom Field

Only administrators can create and configure custom fields within the admin portal under the "Customization" section.

  1. Go to Admin > Customization > Custom Fields.

  2. Click to create a new custom field.

  3. Specify the Label (the name of the field).

  4. Select where the field will appear in the app (e.g., Project Overview Tab, Person Profile, Company Profile).

  5. Under Type, choose the desired field type that best matches how you want your data to display.

  6. Save the custom field.

  7. Once created, navigate to a record (Project, Person, or Company) where the field was configured to appear.

  8. Click on the new custom field and enter the desired value.

  9. Save the record. The data will appear in the custom field.

Can I delete custom fields?

Yes, but only if they are not in use, meaning no values have been entered and saved on people, company, or project records within your database. If data has been entered and saved, you won’t be able to delete a custom field, but you can change its visibility to hidden so that the information does not appear. This can be accomplished in the Admin Section (Admin → Customization → Custom Fields → Click More Options on the Custom Field → Edit → Status → Toggle Off “Visible”)

Can I edit a custom field type after it’s been created?

Yes, but only if the existing field has no saved values for people, company, or project records within the database. If data has been entered and saved, you won’t be able to edit the custom field type, but you can create a new custom field with a different type.
