1. Add On Air and Off Air time

First of all, when creating a new rundown or script, you should start by adding the On Air time and Off Air time of your show. These are used in various timing calculations, so make sure you get this values right. If needed, these values can be changed later on.

Now you can see that, in this example, the Show duration is 01:30:00 and we have got 90 minutes to fill with content. The yellow marking shows that we are still under time.

2. Open Timings column

When creating the content of your script, you can open or close the Timings column at any time. To add, edit or remove timings in your rundown and script, you need to enable the Timings column.

You have the option to create your own view and define what types of Timings calculation you wish to view and edit. Find out more about the various types of Timings.

3. Add estimated timings to each segment of your show

Enable the 'Estimated duration' column via the Timings to show the card duration.

Cards that contain a text field for PR texts, AutoCue or conversations, or contain media that has a duration such as movie clips, will have a pre-filled estimated duration. This duration is shown in a light-grey font.

Text cards have an estimated duration based on the amount of text inside, excluding default markers. Custom markers can be included or excluded by changing its setting.

To overwrite a suggested duration, simply click the value field and change it. It will become black to indicate that it is an overwritten estimate duration.

To reset an overwritten duration back to the original suggestion, use the arrow next to the Estimated timing value field and select Reset duration.

Remark: some cards are taken into account in Timings, others not. Please contact our support team to make changes to this set-up if needed.

You will notice that while adding new content to your cards, such as text or media, timings will be recalculated.

All estimated timings are continuously summed up and show you the total amount of estimated timings for each part of your show next to the list title, as well as the total script duration of your show in the script header.

Timings marked in the coloured box show whether your estimated timings will result in Under (yellow), Over (red) or On (green) time.

4. Adding Breaks

A break card is a special card that can be added to your script and rundown to clearly indicate the breaks or commercials in your show. Typically, this card has an orange background color.

You can add timing to a break card. As a result, you can split and view your total script and rundown time into program time (Pgm.) and break time.

Remark: whether break cards are available in your project, depends on the card templates set-up. Please contact our support team if you have questions about this.
