Technical Troubleshooting - Toast Mobile Order & Pay®

I'm not sure how to do tips for Toast Mobile Order & Pay®. Can you help me?

There are two ways to handle tips with Toast Mobile Order & Pay®.

    1. Tip pooling: Using a "Virtual server" assigned to an Auto Fire Device

    2. Server Assignments at the start of each shift from the POS terminal

Find more information about these options in Set Up Toast Mobile Order & Pay®.

I can see my menu, but an error occurs when trying to add the item to the cart - what should I check?

Make sure you have a dining option with the dining behavior of Dine-In set up. This is required to make Toast Mobile Order & Pay® work. Learn more about dining options in Configuring Custom Dining Options.

How do I make menus available for Toast Mobile Order & Pay®? Why can't I see my menus when I use the QR code?

In order for the menu information to be visible on O&P, make sure that the visibility is checked off for "Order & Pay" (or "Kiosk and Order & Pay" if you have both a Kiosk and Toast Mobile Order & Pay® subscription).

    1. To set this up, navigate to Advanced Properties, and select Visibility in the Show/Hide bar at the top of the page. Navigate to the Menu you'd like to make available for Order & Pay, and make sure that it is checked off for "Order & Pay"/"Kiosk and Order & Pay". This toggle can be used to turn on or off more specific menu information you need available for Order & Pay, not just entire menus (a.k.a. Menu Groups or Menu Items).

    2. Make sure to save and publish your changes.

Will we have the ability to go into the guest's order to make adjustments such as a discount or a coupon on our terminals or handhelds?

This depends on how the restaurant is configured:

    • If tabs are not enabled, and an order is closed by the guest, it becomes a closed transaction on the POS. Servers may reopen the check and make adjustments such as comping items, voiding the payment, and adjusting the credit card amount, just like any other closed transaction.

    • If tabs are enabled, a server can update an open tab at any time. However, if the guest closes their tab and needs to make updates after the fact, the servers may reopen the check and make adjustments.

Is there any way to change routing on individual items based on table numbers? For example, if I wanted a beer to route to one bar if you are at table 40 and another bar if you are at table 20?

Yes! You can check out how this can be set up in Configure Toast Mobile Order & Pay® Printer Routing.

How do you change the default tip percentage?

Learn how to change default tip percentages here, Set Up Tip Options.

Is it possible to set a default revenue center as well? As of now, all orders are coming in as no revenue center. How do I find out what percentage of sales are made on Toast Mobile Order & Pay®?

The best way to identify sales from Toast Mobile Order &Pay® is to filter the Sales Summary by Source: Order & Pay, and Dining Option: Dine-in (as well as the dates/times/employees needed for the report.

Where do I go to see all the checks that have been submitted?

Visit the Previous Checks view of the POS from quick order mode or the table layout. Select the three dots in the top right corner and choose "Show all checks". By default, for many users, only the checks they created are shown.

If tabs are enabled, servers will see separate guest payments as separate checks rather than one combined tab.

Having the server suggest other items does allow for the opportunity to upsell. Will there be ways to connect recommended items with each other without creating a bunch of modifiers?

Upsell items are not currently available for Toast Mobile Order & Pay®, but the team is working hard on creating a feature coming soon! In the meantime, suggest creating a new menu or menu group called "Suggested items" to highlight the items you'd like guests to see, or creating upsell modifiers for guests to choose after selecting an item.
